004: And So It Begins Report

General Summary

After cashing out the gold bars, Artemis Foxx must return home to avoid being scolded for missing curfew in her community. Those that survived the deal with the strange, hat wearing "Johnson" meet the newest member to their ragtag group, Lee Sullivan. He heads down to the basement/winery/"Dr." Phoebe Martino's Lab, of the Salty's Saloon, just in time for Detective Kei Sakamoto to receive a call from her partner. The partner gave them information about a body found in one of the gaited neighborhoods of White Crest. They left the sneeze-prone Dragon, Rosabelle , with the wounded veteran, Lee Sullivan, and the two, Detective Kei Sakamoto and "Dr." Phoebe Martino, rushed off to the scene of the crime.   At the crime scene, they learn the victim was Dr. Marcus Brenner, an old classmate and fellow believer of "Dr." Martino's Lycanthropy Thesis. Marcus was hung by a thin string and had slashes trailing all the way up his arms, a strange sight to see with his wide smile. The partner claimed it was just a suicide, but Detective Kei Sakamoto and "Dr." Phoebe Martino tried to convince them it was a homicide. Waving off their speculations the partner let them be as he wrapped up the operation. As Detective Kei Sakamoto searched Brenner's office, "Dr." Phoebe Martino noticed his wife, Alice, sobbing by herself.   As she approached Alice, she learned that she'd seen a perpetrator leaving, she described him as large and hairy. "Dr." Phoebe Martino also learned that Alice wasn't allowed to speak about whatever her husband did for a living, she didn't really know anyway. Deciding she'd extracted all she could from Alice she regrouped with the rest of the party.   At Salty's Saloon, when the two rejoin the group Rosabelle smells a faint scent of what she describes as "Wolf Man" on them, causing "Dr." Phoebe Martino to jump to the conclusion that the murder was a Werewolf, or in her words "A Lycanthrope". Detective Kei Sakamoto managed to learn that Brenner was injected many times with a hypnotic, brainwashing drug that was of an unknown origin, from the case file sent to her. "Dr." Phoebe Martino then analyzes a sample of the string she'd taken and learns it's organic. The party agrees that they need a sample for "Dr." Phoebe Martino to analyze to see if she could identify the drug. The only way to achieve their goal is by breaking into the morgue.   Detective Kei Sakamoto distracts the coroner while the rest of the group sneaks in through the back door. Upon inspecting the body, it suddenly breathes it's last breath and a cloud of mysterious dust shoots out with it. Taking advantage of this, "Dr." Phoebe Martino quickly stores some of it away hoping to learn more from it. As the party is about to leave Rosabelle notices a glowing light coming from Marcus's neck. "Dr." Phoebe Martino surgically removes a leech like creature from the Doctor's body before fleeing the morgue.
