Mini 3: A Fragile Mind Report

General Summary

31st of Emmanir 1524   At 12:30am the group talks about the issue are hand. Through this discussion it is revealed that Kaida is actually a dragon that Isabelle bonded with. They also consider options for Brienda. Either staying with her here to support her or taking her to the capital to get her properly instated.    Sir George is guarding the front door. The group is very concerned about the demon cat. Also with two opposing nobles. What they have found means that the noble that hired them will be in direct opposition to Brienda. They decide that Brienda needs to be included in the conversation and they can't put her in danger.    Just before Brienda comes out, Balthazar unintentionally starts to talk in Killi's head. Which coincidently, as Brienda comes out, she is having a similar problem as the group hears a lot internal worrying thoughts from Brienda. The group helps her work through some of her thoughts and start to calm her a little. They suggest the toys come out to support Brienda. They discuss the mind power problems. She reveals she did not have these powers before she went to sleep. This is all new.   Isabelle asks if Brienda wants to claim ladyship of the estate. Brienda isn't sure. She is confused about where she will live if someone else is claiming the house. She likes the idea of going to the capital. Then she can get to know this new timeframe better and maybe get a tutor for some of her noble roles. The group asks her about her toys and she explains about how the energy was pulled into the toys.   As conversations continue, Brienda calms and the telepathy from her stops. She reveals that assassins had been sent out after her. He left to deal with this and put her to sleep before doing this. She is invited to come and watch the group deal with their last two quests from the toys. The toys say they have presents for the group if they finish all the tasks. She likes the idea of watching the group.    Snoogie reveals that something was wrong with the vines in Brienda's room. Some of the vines were dying. They are worried that Mr Tiddles might have been trying to kill Brienda or the spell was coming to a natural end. Killi gives Brienda some rations to eat. They talk briefly with Sir Frithkin about the ogre and what they know.    They head out to the stables. On the way they run into Sir George. They ask him about why he thinks the cat is connected to demon. He describes it doing a ritual with dead birds, pentagrams and candles. The group invites Sir George to help them at the stables. They go off on an ogre hunt.    They stealthily scout out the stables without waking the ogre before sneaking inside and taking out the ogre before it can even make a move to hurt someone. The group looks around and finds a chest with coins, gems and wooden statue. All the cooper and the statue are given to Sir George.    Afterwards they go to the pound to collect berries for breakfast. Brienda somehow cleaned herself and when she touched the dead treant plant life grew. She leaves an offering for the treant but learns it's dead. Which makes her sad.   The group returns to the manor with berries in hand. Isabelle, Galanith and Balthazar look through the library while Killi and Leolen search the manor with permission this time. They also take a short rest during this time. Killi and Leolen get stumped by the locked door they were asked not to open. Balthazar and Galanith start to catelogue the books. They find alchemist books, fey books (general knowledge). Isabelle finds books about dragon with inheriting knowledge, unhatched dragons, mixture of research and own notes. Isabelle takes two research books are taken and his main dragon notebook.   At 8am most of the group head back into town. They split up.    Galanith takes Sir George to the temple of Haelyn where his retainers are waiting for him. He starts to loudly tell the tale of his time at the manor. Afterwards she goes and buys 10 gold worth of fresh provisions for the group for today and tomorrow.   Balthazar goes to the town hall to try and get an idea on the history of the area. There he learns how extreme the area can be in the prosecution of witchcraft and sorcery. Due to the fire that happened with the attack on the nobles, the history from that time is sketchy at best.  Brienda Bhalaene escaped the assassins of family Ghieste. House Ghieste hired a sorcerer to assassinate Brienda but they themselves were killed by a sorcerer. Maybe the same one? Since then many have tried to claim this land. Some have tried to pretend to be Brienda. Lots of witch burnings over the years.   Leolen and Killi go around to talk to people. To find out about the local Lord and rumours. They hear the following rumors:

  • Urgot’s Den has been taken over by Goblins. I think they take people as slaves. Must be careful.
  • The town of Rotterdam has discovered a new mine, but apparently something’s gone wrong. Might be a reward there.
  • The reeve accepts bribes from adventurers for exceptions and favours.
The town seems very apathetic about their new noble. They are mostly ignoring him. He's basically a figurehead. The Farmer Watch leader, Blacksmith and Inn Keeper run a council where the reeve is sometimes invited when they remember to. The noble is aware of how little the towns people care for him. So he really wants to get into the manor to try and establish himself and such. There is no real criminals here due to small size of area.    Isabelle starts with Brienda. They both fail at small talk and just sit their awkwardly. Isabelle starts reading while Brienda does some needlework.    When they get back Balthazar warns Killi about using Sorcery in the area. They discuss what they had learned in town with the rest of the group. Brienda shares what the location here was good for and why some nobles would want to take control of this small area. A small hiccup is revealed of Sir George is talking about what happened here and might reveal too much about Brienda before the group is ready.   They make plans to help Puff and then leave in the direction of the capital past Rottenham.   The group rests for the remainder of the day before getting some rest to prepare for going into the shadow rift.

From the Ogre Chest   2409 cp, 1298 sp, 120 gp 2 gems [1 Bloodstone, 1 Carnelian] Wooden Statue   2409 and wooden statue give to Sir George   Everyone gets 24 gold and 259 silver. Brienda gets 3 silver that are not easily divided.
