Session 9: A letter from a friend Report

General Summary

The session began with the party leaving for the town of Marcroix after Orion received a letter from someone who he did not disclose. Along the journey they encountered an individual who had grounded his river boat along the Relic River, in a section known as the Warduff Marshes, or Erick's Folly. Djinnferno and Zeal helped the man push the boat back into the water.    As they started heading back to the cart, four crocodiles emerged the water, snapping at the man and tearing at his boat. The party jumped to action and fought off the beasts, with Zeal ripping apart one of the crocodiles skin to shreds with his trusty rose, and Djinnferno skinning another as a prize. The man promised to pay them if they pass through another town known as Grunburg.    Eventually, they arrived at a village which seemed unwelcoming. At the sight of both a Tiefling and a Demonic looking Fire Genasi, many of the commoners fled the streets out of sight. They were approached by two guards, one young and one that appeared to be in his late 20s. They asked the party to leave since the people were scared of them, to little success. As they were talking, a rumbling was felt to be approaching them, and Orion spotted a mass of entities approaching them, consisting of Ogres, Goblins and Bandits. One Ogre carried a large howdah on its back which contained goblins with short bows, another appeared to carry a rudimentary battering ram which it used to smash down the walls of the village. The bandits appeared to have a series of metallic balls attached to their shields, which appeared to explode into a display of fireworks on impact.    After a dangerous encounter with blows being exchanged and the young guard dying, the party came out on top with only a few bandits and a single goblin being able to escape. The party was thanked by the remaining guard, who let them stay at the traveling inn, free of charge for the night and use the basement to interrogate one of the bandits they captured. It was revealed that the bandit group called themselves the "Boom Bangarang Bandits" and led by a crazed gnome who called himself "Boom Bangarang". They were also told that their group worked for another group, who was apparently lead by a Tabaxi who used illusion magic, which Zeal seemed to take a very fond interest of.
