Session 31: A Fiery Appearance Report
General Summary
The session started with the party being attacked by Zephyr after one of his allies, Chalice, kidnapped the Astromancer Luminark Hysh. The fight began with Zephyr hitting the party with his molten cards, each with a disabling affect alongside it. Orion was affected by what Aes was affected by, back at the Durallane Estate, disappearing in an instant and seemingly finding himself in a dark void. As the fighting continued, another rocket collided with the tower, lower than before, causing it to being to topple towards the oily water of the city. Even as it was falling, and the party tried to keep themselves afoot and balanced, Zephyr was still fighting and causing problems for the party. Eventually the tower hit the water and the party jumped in with it, barely keeping their heads above the water and Geraldt falling unconscious. The party was brought up from the water by some guards and brought to a black cap barracks where they stayed for the night and got dried off. The party headed to the Lord Lieutenant's manor in the Palace District and informed him about the attack and about the upcoming Geheimnisse. They later headed to the slums to find Malik, the younger brother of Kalki. The place was very unwelcoming and they were taken by a child to where Malik was staying, finding out that he had lost his right hand. The party brought him to the Red Moon Inn to stay for a night until they leave Caernstock for Helmgart. In the inn, an old friend of Zeal's was found, named Thoreau, who also recognised Zeal. They greeted each other and Thoreau asked for some help from the party, in return for a favour from the Captain of the Black Caps since he was temporarily working for them as an investigator. The Black Caps were working with a gang in the slums, but had kept money they were meant to return. They didn't want to create unrest with the gang so needed an outsider to get the money, and the party were the ones for the job. They headed to slums and found the location, quickly sneaking in and finding the money in a coffer under a bed where a sleeping Orcish gang member was sleeping. On the way out, Geraldt accidently hit some tiles from the roof of the building next to the one where they got the money and alerted 3 guards, luckily Orion quickly stepped in and magically slept the gang members, letting Zeal and Geraldt escape without being seen.
