Session 5: Echoes Beneath Helmgart Report
General Summary
The session began with the party meeting two monster hunters, Wulfrik and Thorgrim, the former a hulking man in plate, the other a stout Dwarf. They talked with them and persuaded them to help hunt down the Vargheist, but they were told to research the creature, due to the fact they know nothing about it. After that, they ventured towards the second location where they presumed the second file would be located. They encountered creatures known as Gricks, which Orion knew tend to live and thrive underground in dark, damp places. After a quick scuffle with the party quickly dealing with the creatures and moving further down the sewer to a maintenance area of sorts. There, they were ambushed by the Draconian creatures, with another black-scaled variant which seemed to be leading the group of Draconians. Soon into the fight, a unknown contraption was brought out and used by the creatures, later found to be called a "Warpfire Thrower". This contraption let a gout of green fire which stuck to the floor and skin, searing and making flesh necrotic. After the fight, the party discovered the second file, detailing events and the nature of the "Scaled King". They also discovered a note which discussed the Draconian creatures and mentioned a meeting place - "The Forlorn Peaks". After this, they met up with the monster hunters, Thorgrim and Wulfrik, telling them information they learnt at the library. They then received a letter from Lord O'keefe, requesting them meet at his manor for a new job opportunity, and to supply themselves with holy water against the Vargheist. Lord O'keefe discusses how he was being blackmailed against another noble by the name of "Ulrich Leitdorf", a less powerful noble but whom could ruin his name and career. Apparently unless he gave Ulrich a sum of 1000 Gold coins, damaging information would be revealed. He asked the party to infiltrate a masquerade party which would be held in 3 days, giving them a chance to think about the matter and perhaps scope out the home of the noble. He offered to create fake identities for the party, as if they were visitors from a neighbouring country or far off land.
