Session 18: The threat shows itself Report
General Summary
The session began with the party arriving at Helmgart, with a large pile of bodies being burnt outside the gates of the city, which had been closed. They were going to be turned away, since no one is allowed in or out due to an apparent disease outbreak within the city, but were recognised as the people who had saves members of the royal court. They were quickly let in through a wicket door in the gate and looked as the city was in a much different condition than before. The city was much quieter and door were painted with a red mark, signalling infection, and bodies were being collected by corpse collectors. The party then encountered a small group of witch hunters, dragging a woman away from her home and her husband screaming that she "Isn't a witch". As the man attempted to punch the gaunt-looking witch hunter, the witch hunter pulled out his pistol, shooting the man and instantly killing him. The party was shocked by this notion and attempted to intervene. The witch hunters appeared not to care, telling the party to get out of their way and let them do their job. They handed a writ to Baloasi, which proved that they are allowed to arrest the woman and remove anyone who gets in their way. These witch hunters seem to be able to do what they want without much repercussion. The party then decided to head towards the estate once again to get their horse back, but discovered that three checkpoints had been set up along the western region outside of Helmgart and that the Draconians had revealed themselves at the estate and what was once Lord Fergus O'keefe's land. They met with the Lord Lieutenant of Helmgart, Ithar Dunn, where he gave them a rundown of both what has happened and a small operation he had for the party. They were told to head to Morgensloft farm, the largest farm that Lord O'keefe owned. The first place they were headed to was the Knopfelspiel mill, then Holzfruchts Orchard, Sog-Mire Barn and then optionally, the main area of Morgensloft farm. They eventually reached the farm after around an hour, where they first started on the outskirts where they attempted to make their way through a small wheat field, before being attacked by Draconians who started to use man catchers, which proved a problem for Geraldt. Corrupted hounds were also used by the Draconians, which happened to tear Baloasi's hand from his arm. After a while longer, most of the Draconians had retreated to the mill which was on the other side of the field or had died.
