Session 37: Bitter cold towards a bitter foe Report

General Summary

The session began with the party sneaking up on a small Draconian war camp and taking out one of the guards before engaging with the enemy. A draconian handler with a disgusting, mutated hound let it loose towards a noise made by Aes, but before this happened, the party sprung their ambush and began their assault. They quickly dealt with the hound and many attacks from crossbows, spells and melee weapons were exchanged. A Draconian mage appeared mid-way through the fight, controlling the battlefield for a while with his spells until his demise by Geraldt's hand. The party then looted the camp after the fight but only found scraps from looting and two letters. One detailing how one of the Draconians was going to become a turncoat and trying to bring his fellow Draconians along, but was unable to due to his death at the party's hand. The other one for the mage detailed how they were going to be reinforced soon, as they were to be prepared for something that was not named.    The party then continued up the mountain, through the icy and bitter cold as a blizzard began to crawl through the mountainside. They were barraged with the shards of cold and blinded by thick fog, eventually hearing something eating not too far in front of them. The figure through the fog appeared to be quadrapedal, and eventually identified as a Saber-toothed tiger, alongside another who was protected recently caught prey. It was acting cautiously and defensively, only standing its ground, not allowing the party to move anywhere but back from where they came. As this standoff was happening, the ground of either side of the tigers began to rise with steams as two creatures began to burrow towards them. From in between the party and the tigers rose two creatures, their bodies pulsing with internal fire and winglike fins flared from the back of them, their milky white eyes staring down their prey: the tigers.    Combat began with the party hardly being able to see anything, trying to combat the creatures alongside the neutral tigers with every melee strike against the creatures scorching them in return. A creature eliminated one of the tigers, barely avoiding death itself as Aes became lethargic from the magic of Orion's haste spell waring off. Both creatures fled once they caught their meal, leaving an injured party and one tiger left remaining which Orion tried to heal but ran before he could lay a finger on it.    The party then saught refuge nearby in a hunting home owned by an old Goliath named Agan. At first he did not allow the party refuge, but eventually let them in despite his reservations. He let them take rest until the blizzard let up, allowing the party to share his fire and enjoy some of his soup. The interior of his home was decorated with trophies of various native wildlife and one of the creatures they had fought before. He told the party they are called Remorhaz, and the two they had fought were the young, and thay they most likely wouldn't have survived if they had encountered an adult one.
