Session 30: The Astromancer Report
General Summary
The session began with the party arriving in Caernstock and getting paid by a small and upcoming trading company named "Petley & Co.". They met with it's owner, Drodan Petley and were given their pay, but Zeal was only given half of what the rest of the party was given. They then headed to the Claymore's Warehouse to meet with Wylfern Kelfen since he asked for Geraldt, but also asked for the rest of the party to come along with him. When they arrived the party was taken to a back room with a single crate inside, which Wylfern showed to contain a coffin that appeared to have a corpse within. But this was not a corpse. It was still breathing, and contained a consciousness within. Wylfern explained that he was the leader of a group that both he and Geraldt was a part of, but did neither he or Geraldt disclosed what they did, merely outlining their origins. He said that when he is ready, to seek the "Old Wickerman's Tree" within the cursed marsh and that his companions should accompany him due to the dangers of the place. The party then decided to head to the Lord Lieutenants place since they may be able to gain access to the Astrolabe, home of Luminark Hysh. They were taken through the water by Dorelor Bootleg until they reached the palace district where they continued on foot. Along the way a wooden table came floating past the party from a shop, and soon after the owner came out, accusing the party of stealing his table. After a heated back and forth, a pair of black caps step in and ask what is happening. During this time, the table floats by behind the party and Orion freezes it in time for just a moment and the owner grabs onto it thinking the magic stopped. After Orion's magic faded, the table continued floating as normal, dragging the man along and the black caps gave chase. Zeal found the origin of the magic, a small gnome on stilts who he threatened if he did not stop the magic. He agreed and the party later found the table and owner, with a now broken table. After this, the party headed back on the path to the manor of the Lord Lieutenant and were let in to speak with him. They were given a letter with permission to enter the Astrolabe and speak with Luminark Hysh and left for the tower soon after. When they arrived, they were escorted up the top of the tower, into the observatory. They were greeted by the old man, Luminark, who gave the party some more information about the Lord of Blood and the dagger. After they gained this information, they were tasked in finding two rogue students who had taken a book about constellations from him, and in return they will learn the location of the whereabouts of the Blood Lord's Jewel. They first searched the student's house, which was seemingly broken into due to a lack of keys which were left in the Astrolabe. Tracks soon lead to a man who had a boat for hire, who said he had taken a pair of richer looking people to Elftown. The party then took this opportunity to head there and found an old, abandoned looking house with crates filled with clothes and other homely items, clearly from the house they investigated. The party waited in a nearby alley for hours until midnight until Orion decided to investigate the abode with a small lizard which discovered a young child who was clearly bruised and dirty who picked up the lizard familiar and began to pet it. Geraldt then decided to enter the building as a teenager and hid in the building acting like he was running from someone, the child was unresponsive and seemed not to care. The couple of runaway students then arrived whilst Geraldt was there, arguing. Soon after, Aes knocked on the door and one of the students answered it, seemingly annoyed. The rest of the party arrived too, grabbing both of the students and Geraldt casted suggestion on one of then, making them give them the book. During this time, Zeal alerted a trio of Black Caps who arrested the students for child neglect, and also bringing the child along with them. Then the party returned to the Astrolabe and gave the book back, receiving good news and bad news. The good news was that they now have the location of the Blood Lord's Jewel and how to reach it, but the bad news was that the full moon of Morrslieb is approaching, meaning that Geheimnisse was near. Before the party could leave, a red light was caught in the eye of Geraldt, as he spotted a rudimentary rocket approaching the tower at high speed with an ethereal red trail behind it. There was little time to react, not enough to move but enough to get down, as the party did. As the rocket collided with the glass half of the observatory, glass shards and debris flew across the room, sending everyone flying.
