Session 36: Whispers of Iron Peak Report
General Summary
The session began with the party heading back to Helmgart to stock up on supplies and sell various gems they found. During this process they were stopped by a barricade which blocked off wagons and horses, but let foot trafic through. This was because the Queen was giving a speech to a crowd of people about the upcoming Geheimnisse and a declaration of war towards Contrantum since they attacked their shipping lanes. As this was happening, the party listening in, Geraldt snook through the crowd and stole from a somewhat wealthy looking man, and then bumped into by a hooded individual heading straight towards the Queen. Aes and Orion quickly ran after him, taking him down while Zeal headed up onto a rooftop for a better vantage point. He was quickly interupted though as he encountered a similar individual on the roof top ready to strike. Two more individuals in the crowd shot crossbow bolts towards the Queen, one missing but one hitting her in the shoulder. The crowd quickly scattered, leaving the would-be assassins exposed. Combat enused with the Queen, Commander Ithar Dunn and one Royal Guard against the Assassins, with the assassins being taken out with ease. Near the end of the fight though, a huge, forceful blast was a shot alongside Zeal's musket as he finished off one of the assassins, splitting them in half. After the fight, the Queen brought the party to the keep where she told all but Zeal to wait in the council chamber. She then confronted Zeal in a side room, away from even her guards, about what happened back at the city centre. She has seen what happened when Zeal shot before, and was not happy about it but did not explain why or how she knows about it. Her blade was focused on him, and she questioned his loyalty and who he really was but the situation was diffused as Zeal sweared he only serves the Queen and no one else. He returned to the rest of the party where they met General Tahlia Vedra of the Demigryph Knights and the Spymaster Cecil Pontefract. They discussed a new plan to stop the weapon beneath the city through an assault due to the failure to retrieve the Keystaff with the elite of the army alongside the party. Cecil believes that there may be something important at a stronghold built within the volcano named. His spies have found that only Automatons have been headed there, with no Draconians in sight, beliving that there must be something important there if Draconians aren't going there. He advises an infiltration approach, as a head on attack would be ill-advised, telling the party to seek another entrance than the front one. The party was then brought down the vaults of the Kingdom where they were given a selection of magical items to help them with their task. The party then set off to do what they orignally intended to do, selling their gems at the Purple Phantom and buying potions at the Rune and The Relic. They then set off towards Titan's Remnant to find and assassinate Burblespue Halescourge to put his Abominations to an end once and for all. Along the way they encountered a bridge which was inhabited by City Guards who wanted a toll to pass the bridge. Zeal saw past their bluff, thinking of them as disguised bandits and throwing them a pouch of a few coppers. They were too scared to properly confront the party and let them past, giving empty threats as the party simply went past the bridge. Eventually they arrived at the bottom of the mountain, finding a small camp which blocked off the entrance to the mountains which was inhabited by a few Draconians and twisted hounds.
