Session 43: Grimhailer Report
General Summary
The session began with the party returning home from one of the many fortified inns after survving Geheimnisse. After 4 days of travel they came back to the keep which they found under construction by someone with a familiar name. Festus. The party discussed if they wanted to speak to him now, deciding to leave it for later since they were busy at the time. They instead greeted the rest of the people in and about the keep and catching up. At this time Aes persuaded the party to help her free someone who could help them, who she was told about by her "Ally" she had mentioned before. She told the party that he was hidden within a secret entrance within the Catacombs beneath Helmgart. Firstly the party decided to speak with the Queen and hand her the plans and blueprints they found at Iron Peak. When they reached the city keep, they were told the Queen was in her chambers and they should wait until she comes out. The party waited a while but she was still not coming, so Zeal decided to investigate and knocked on the door to her chambers, yet she wouldn't answer. He tried a few more times before entering and finding her out on the balcony, staring at a necklace in her hands. She only noticed Zeal once he walked out on the balcony, and she apologised for not answering sooner. Her and the party then met in the Council Room where they discussed the plans and blueprints, and the party was gifted various magical items and a coffer of gold to split between them. The party then went on their way to the catacombs where they found the secret entrance to this supposed prison of this potential ally. The party continued on through this "prison" completing various puzzles and gaining orbs which they placed in slots that opening a huge white glowing orb at the end of the main room. After all the orbs were put in place, the orb began to dissipate and a huge figure with four feathered wings and their head was a skull with a black veil pressed against it. This figure fell to the floor, breathing heavily as if exhausted. Aes tried to talk to him at first, but to no avail until he finally responded asking for a moment to catch his breath. After he stood up, he was confused and conversed with the party for a short while but felt insulted so he tunnled out of the prison straight through the catacombs and into the outer wall of the city keep, collapsing a section of it and causing rubble to fall down the hill into the Parish District. The party rushed out of the catacombs and Orion dimension door'd himself and Aes to where the creature was on top of one of the towers of the city keep. Aes spoke to him and calmed him, getting him to meet the party at the keep. The session ended with the party returning to the keep and Aes speaking with Reikenor.
