Session 48: The Forgotten Temple Report
General Summary
The session began with the party heading to the Gloomsdeep forge to find the Temple of the Abyss. The Maiden in Black mentioned that she had seen people like Aes coming into the spire wearing red. The party knew instantly that this was the Iron Legion, and that they had to be quick but stealthy to avoid them. On the way to the Temple of the Abyss, they came across an injured Iron Legion Automaton who seemingly had realised what they were, since they were humans before they became the Automatons. It had no idea what happened to them but knew they were going to get married. The party decided to put it in their bag of holding. The party eventually made their way up the largest foundry where they used the ring they got from a high disciple to make their way down a lift that goes down the entire foundry, even going beneath it. When they reached the bottom, they came across the Temple of the Abyss, a foreboding place with rivers of blood flowing down from hooded statues that lined the hallways. In the middle of this temple, there was a huge statue of a robed figure with growths sprouting from their head with many cultists surrounding it. Three of these cultists approached the players, inviting them to take on the challenge to take the Blood Lord's Jewel for themselves. During this time the Maiden in Black seemed to feel like these hall were familiar, but she did not know why. The players were brought to a room where they must ready themselves for the gauntlet, with a 10 minute break in between each challenge. The party readied themselves and the maiden healed them to full, and then they went into the first challenge where they had to gain points for killing things. During this fight various traps went off like spinning blades, boulders and beartraps falling from the ceiling. At the end of the challenge, the party returned injured where they were healed by the Maiden in Black and prepared for the next challenge
