Session 6: Something Rotten in Pottit

General Summary

"PSST" There it was again! From the alleyway! "PSST"   Malcer follows the whispers, and comes face to face with a short ugly man with a thin greasy ugly black beard and a large crooked nose. He has wears an really ugly orange west, and has a pointy hat on his small head. His teeth appears like someone just tossed them into his mouth at random. All crooked, yellow and bent.   "Sleazenose's the name and peddling's my game!" the stranger says. "Say, you look like one hot swordsman, and that reminds me, I have just the gift for you!" The sleazy nosed man pulls out a beautiful jewel encrusted dagger. "Observe, noble sir! The world's most magnificent dagger! It's worth a kingdom in itself, but for you, 100 gold pieces! It's a steal!"   Malcer, suspecting a cursed weapon when he sees one, puts Slusken Sleazenose up for a test, ridiculing him, before he walks off, keeping his old set of daggers.

Related Reports

The party decides to check out the New Town of Pottit before they decide how they get to the library.   Smog has a chat with the troubadours of Five Lost Senses, turns out they're all lazy talentless hacks, who each traded one of their senses to Suttung, god of poetry, to get their amazing skills in music.   Fortvilelse goes to Doctor Salvesen, a total quack, to check out the mysterious spots on his "skin". The doctor claims its bone astma, and recommends a book on dauding diseases from the forbidden library. There should be a cure in it, he claims.   Jon manages to scout out the Old Town a bit, learning about guard patrols. Nobody seems to ever enter the old town itself, so if they wait for nightfall, they should be able to sneak in unnoticed.   Malcer has a run in with scammer Slusken Sleazenose, who attempts to sell him a cursed weapon. Luckily for Malcer, he understands what's going on, and leaves. He also has a chat with the goblin Scoors, who runs the marketplace in town. He's furious because orcs from the western swamps have been raiding caravans. Malcer's contact Jean, who after making sure they can't be overheard, begs Malcer to go to the library instead, to put an end to the Potato. Jean is the only person alive who has met the potato, and according to him, it's some sort of floating eyeball with tentacles. An evil that must be stopped, because every full moon, something evil seems to be summoned within the library.   After meeting at the inn and planning a bit, the party leaves town to the north and hides until nightfall. They notice Hanefar far up on the sky, but he clearly seems to avoid the City, so they're safe for now.   At night, the group moves up to the library, only running into one lonely Redcap on the way there. Talja manages to open the front door, and as soon as everyone sets foot inside, a polite telepathic voice greets them welcome, and tells them to be careful. There are horrible monsters afoot, but the Potato promises not to hurt any of them, unless they set foot inside its master's study.
