Session 16: ...A sorrow song Report

General Summary

An Elivasi and Atamani join the party, Roy Keytas and Yanis Saklar.

Francis says "If I were to flip a coin and have a choice of how it lands, I would choose the dwarf, I think the other one would kill you".

While they prepare to leave, the town of Ninegraves is attacked. The guards peer over the wall to see the assailants that have gathered, yell out, but only have a moment before they are blasted by a ball of fire. With that signal, the ranks of attackers arrayed outside began to charge. Roy, Flynt, Yanis, Kronlim, Francis, and Garo are all gathered at the north side of town, holding the walls against the attackers. Marcarius, Edwyn, and Asbjorn are all in the subterranean crypts at the time, and spent most of the battle holding off those entrances from the enemy. The battle lasts for around half an hour, as the guards around the perimeter are overrun and sent to cover or the grave. All the while, the north side was being cleared of enemies with vicious speed. The problem, however, was the rest of the town. The enemies tore through with ease, brushing aside all opposition and entering the lower crypts. That was when the party realized there was acute danger. They could kill a fair number of these attackers, but not that many. Being out in the open didn't help either.

Roy escapes through the window of a house, runs up the stairs, and hops out the second story window onto an enemy before rushing over the ramparts and away.

Kronlim is picked up by two enemies, and they attempt to carry him away. Flynt attacked them with a large sweep, cleaving the enemies in two, but hurting Kronlim as well.

Francis was cleaving through enemies with ease. The first to approach him was met with a half-halberd to the face, caving in his head with a spray of blood. The next was decapitated. The last fool to lunge at him was caught by the arm, and had his hand cut off like a butcher takes off a piece of choice meat.

With such success, some enemies began to flee from him, and he gave chase. With bolo in hand, he sprinted after one unfortunate soul and caught him right around the ankles with a well placed toss. The man went to ground and Francis stepped up next to him, crouching in the dirt just beside him. He asked why the town was being attacked, first and foremost. The man was resistant, but Francis threatened to drive stakes into his feet, which prompted a response. The village was under the nominal control of Lord Wimark, a vile and corrupted man forsaken by the ancestors. Purging Dagmar's Finger of his influences was the way to save the land from its constant storms and dreadful gales.

Party goes north to town with hovels below it. They convince the guards they are traders. They head inside and camp in the courtyard.

Asbjorn heads to the manor house and attempts to investigate why the people outside said people were going missing. He does well to begin with, making it inside, but is caught while on the first floor. Grabs woman and covers her mouth, but captain of guard bursts into room with rest of party.

A chase ensues as the party decides to side with the captain of the guard in order to cover themselves. Asbjorn runs up the stairs, being grabbed by Roy and pulled down, but managed to dash his way up after battering Roy. He escapes back through the trapdoor and onto the roof, the whole time cursing under his breath. Having reached the roof, he charged through the wind to the far side, tossing down a rope to scale down the wall. Unfortunately, both the battlement and his luck failed to hold, and they collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud. The rest of the party swarmed around him along with the captain of the guard, a most dire moment indeed. The choice fell to them if they would support Asbjorn or attempt to maintain their cover. In this case, they chose the latter. Asbjorn looked to the party and asked what they were doing, since the plan had been for him to infiltrate. Before the captain arrived, they told him that the rest of them wanted to maintain cover. Asbjorn nodded, and surrendered himself, but before anything else happened Flynt knocked him in the head with his scythe and knocked him to the ground in a heap. The captain then arrived and dragged Asbjorn off.

Roy was still in the house, comforting the regent, Rena of Wimark's Gate. When the captain of the guard reentered the house, he told Roy to go rest for the night, and that he could speak with the prisoner the next day.
