Session 28: Combat with Typhon’s Lieutenant Report

General Summary

Nezhar was once the companion of Edmus, but he had the name Salvinar. He was an Astorian.

Leowulf prays to the Ancestors for the reward of a celestial horse. They grant it upon him.

Party plans to ambush Nezhar in a street. They also conjure up different plans and opportunities for the other party members. They split up into different houses and hope to ambush him in and amongst the decrepit building.

Flynt casts out a beam and attempts to lure Nezhar. Nothing responds. He walks farther down the avenue toward the Hall of Cearl and the Crypts that lay below. The night is silent, save for the breeze and isolated flocks of dark birds.

Kronlim gets battered through a building.

The party defeats Nezhar in a massive battle after Leowulf lures him in amongst the houses. Nobody dies, but everyone is brutally wounded. It was close, but they clove off his limbs, poked out eyes, and tore open his sides. With every attack, bursts of black smoke plumed out from the wounds.

Nezhar dies and shrivels up to about half his size as the smoke escapes. They scream with joy and revel in their victory. They speak of returning to Gallows Rock and the glories of their futures. Leowulf gives a final speech, talking of the fallen companions, travels they had done, and how great their victory. Leowulf gathers the circlet of King Cynric, an iron crown with gems and etched blades.

Leowulf and Marcarius collect claws from the corpse. Hadrianus collects the head. Kronlim takes an eye of Nezhar.

Marcarius asks Flynt how to commune with Ácolitus. Marcarius requests his soul back from Ácolitus and to be restored to the light of Corgastor. He accepted, because Marcarius had helped Flynt through all those tribulations and personal conflict. He assisted him, and without that there would be no victory. The reward was 40 more years of life under the light of Corgastor, before being taken back to the Void.

Flynt speaks with Ácolitus about their position now that things are over. Ácolitus forgave Flynt for his transgressions, if only because he did not stray from his light like Typhon had done. He also agreed to reunite Edmus and Naiara as his one reward for victory.

They passed by the Zjol'kel, and saw that it was gone. The mist, light, and energy was gone. Marcarius drew out the axe of Torvald, and told it that they made it. Leowulf quipped that he might have given him the strength to win the fight. "Knowing him, he'd be the horse."

They finally reach Gallows Rock, many of them laughing that they'd never see it again. They go straight to the chamber of Gallows Rock, and surprise both Ansor and Koldo with their return. They show him the circlet of King Cynric and the head of Nezhar. They tell Koldo about all the major changes, Dagmeron, no more Zjol'kel, and the freedom of Worthend.

Orin, the orphan boy from near the Zolian, is now Ansor's ward. Kromm is exploring the lands east of the Ellenon. Roy never returned to Gallows Rock?

Marcarius is given 50 gold for the exploration. Kronlim is given 50 gold. Leowulf requests service to Folkmer, and Koldo tells him that he can deliver the circlet to him. He also gets 25 gold. Flynt decides to go north to Lieran mountains.

Marcarius writes "Desmond Renoux" in ink in the place of his original name. He offers Koldo to call upon him if there is need. Marcarius asks Hadrianus if he can join the Inquisition. He is accepted on the spot. Marcarius finds his old steel icon in the field, scorched by the sun.

Marcarius says his final goodbyes to Kromlin and Leowulf. He leaves three throwing knives in the wood, and tells them to keep them all as tokens. They share a final handshake.

The final words. Hadrianus says "Come now, Marcarius, we have a boat to catch."

Flynt Coal grabs a horse and begins riding northward to the Lieran Mountains. He gives Marcarius and Hadrianus a nod, then rides away.
