Session 25: Departing the Tombwood Report

General Summary

The party from the previous night speaks about events, moreover how lies are being told shamelessly. The morning goes by with relative ease for most. Hadrianus speaks to Flynt about the dangerous nature of his current predicament. Flynt goes to commune with Ácolitus, and is told that he must go at it on his own. Roy and Marcarius both went to spy, and noticed each other, yet both remained unseen by Flynt.

Fight between the party and thorn, swamp demons just north of the town in which Naiara cast her spell. Marcarius sees a corpse in a tree wrapped in vines. Fight begins with enemy leaping on him. Leowulf is entombed within vines, becomes enemy. Kronlim almost drowned. Marcarius abandons Leowulf to his fate. Flynt slaughters some things. They manage to kill all enemies, and Hadrianus loses a man.

Octavius sees a vision of Naiara's spell and it's failure. Typhon sprinted up onto the platform and gave her a hug for her success, but it causes the thing to fail. A dark light retracts into the village to match the burst of light that came forth from the village and Naiara. She rushes away, and the Corgastorians follow. Edmus rushes away from the town as well, as the populace scatters in horror.

Roy recorded the events of the fight and such into his journal, along with his sketches of the monsters.

Octavius and Hadrianus speak about his vision, and they make a pact of secrecy and mutual trust. Hadrianus explains his part in the war against Typhon, and as well learns from Octavius the nature of Naiara's failure and Typhon's part in it.

They escape the Tombwood and reach a sandy shore along its eastern coast. Marcarius tells Octavius the story about Torvald's death. Octavius tells his story about watching the passing of a fallen traveler to retrieve the blessings and good will of Corgastor.

Roy and Octavius speak that night about the strange activities of Hadrianus, Flynt, and others. They speak about the pacts of secrecy between individuals. Octavius entertains puritan, protestants ideologies regarding Corgastor, in that the organized faith has led him astray. He tells Roy how Hadrianus said Edmus was the early form of Typhon. That scared Roy a fair deal, for such evil was so close to the surface. Only time and memory separated them. Octavius told him that the lady in the mist is also Naiara, and the one who conducted the ritual. They shake hands and are amiable in that way.

Flynt goes to meditate, and feels the horror within him moving and active within the desolate hulk of his body. He attempts to speak with it, but is only met with additional pain and headaches. It reaches a height when Flynt mentions reuniting Typhon's soul with Naiara again, somehow.

Party reaches mouth of river Ellenon.

Hadrianus speaks once more to Flynt about his position and many other things. States that "I was your one saving grace, Flynt. Without me, you would have no hope or options. Yes, without my decision to claim Typhon's soul there would be no chance of defeating Nezhar. Your lord may be infuriated by my choice and your agreement to it, but he cannot deny that you need more than he has given you. I ask nothing of you, at least nothing more than I have already done. I only wish to be done with this Nezhar affair and return to Everos and Corgastor. That just requires you to maintain that fragment of Typhon's soul within you long enough until it can be brought to bear, and without your companions ruining it. Be wary, for we are close, but any misstep can lead to our complete undoing.
