Session 27: The Gates of Worthend Report

General Summary

Party moves northward and passes by some raised ground.

Flynt speaks to Ácolitus again, and talks about the nature of souls and the power of Typhon's fragment.

Hadrianus speaks with Octavius. They then speaks with Flynt about the power that will be used. Moreover, the seal that surrounds Worthend is still in existence, and will have to be dealt with.

Party runs into wandering group of Kleeruch-Atamani. They walk through the village and attempt to find things. Marcarius and Octavius get into a strange conversation with an Atamani women and her husband. They get into a short fist fight, and Octavius sucker punches him. His show of martial strength impresses him. He allows him to come back inside and buy food. They buy three blocks of dried meat overall.

The family is the central unit to the Atamani, in social and cultural life.

Their lord is Sky-King Askel, Flynt speaks to him. The interior of his tent is decorate with emerald and a inner canvas of light blue, yet is only scant bigger than the other tents.

Idan and his family sell food.

The party makes camp not terribly far from Worthend's plateu. They hear chanting carried down to them by the wind. They investigate and see many bonfires and cultists standing about. It is a fearful sight, and they decide to turn back.

Party moves closer to plateu and search for food. They find a large field of animal corpses.

They move on and fight two cultists chasing a wounded deer. Leowulf and Octavius get wounded in the fighting and Marcarius kills the deer.

Marcarius moves along the western side of the plateau to gain information. He is seen by some cultists but runs, the rest of the party runs into those groups. They sneak through the opening. Octavius is seen by some enemies, and chaos ensues.

Flynt and Hadrianus sprint to the safety of the gate. Leowulf and Octavius fight some enemies, but the situation devolves rapidly. Octavius sacrifices himself to give Leowulf time to escape.

Marcarius makes a fake camp and slips inside. They all speak once they are inside the city. Hadrianus talks about the dread affairs in Everos and Leowulf jokes how he should be emperor. One day, perhaps. They make final small talk about themselves, trying to come to terms with the possible doom.

Marcarius tells about his childhood in the lower class when Leowulf tells him to write a book about all of this nonsense. He worked as an investigator for people in Turost before ending up in Othos. He was chasing down a client named Ragnald, which somewhat worked in Dagmeron. He informs Leowulf that Ragnald was the name who was boiled in the city.

They walk about all the details of their past adventures, letting the past wash over them. Marcarius shows them the rapier of Garo, talking about the battle there, and everything else. Leowulf says that he will go to Gallows Rock to speak with Koldo for jobs. Marcarius comments that he would only go back to Gallows Rock for payment, nothing else. He would prefer to go to Dagmeron or Everos once more.

Marcarius tells Leowulf about the site of Ambrose the Iron near Lake Ambrose, across the dike. Marcarius and Leowulf in particular grow quite close in that conversation.
