What Lies Beneath

General Summary

After meeting Predent Beren Haggard in his office and subduing a strange, tentacled creature that appeared to have been influencing him, the adventurers managed to talk the predent's personal guards out of detaining or attacking them. The predent, meanwhile, convinces the group to come with him to meet his benefactor. After a carriage ride to the West Docks, Haggard shows a man a curvilinear tattoo on his arm, which the man recognizes and offers the group the use of his boat. Haggard sails the team out to an uninhabited island, where they enter a cave that is empty save for an idol or statue of an enormous, elongated head. An entity calling itself Abzuroth speaks to them, and explains that he is also fighting the The Crimson King and offers to help the PCs in their conflict against him. Akin agrees to accept Abzuroth's boon, at which point he plunges his forearm into a cauldron in front of the statue. Upon withdrawing it, his forearm is covered in a strange, shell-like, semi-organic gauntlet.   Abzuroth gives the PCs a mission to assassinate a politician in Giantshead Bay named Iria Hengehold. Abzuroth tells them that she is in league with the Crimson King.

Akin-Adaro accepted the blessing of Abzuroth after plunging his arm into cauldron of water.

Notes

Akin now has the option to take a level in Warlock. If he does, he gains proficiency in light and simple weapons, Otherworldy Patron (Great Old One), and Pact Magic. If you have both the Spellcasting class feature and the Pact Magic class feature from the warlock class, you can use the spell slots you gain from the Pact Magic feature to cast spells you know or have prepared from classes with the Spellcasting class feature, and you can use the spell slots you gain from the Spellcasting class feature to cast warlock spells you know.
