Claiming her Birthright Report
General Summary
After clearing out Skyreach Castle our heros ventured towards Rosi's kingdom. On the way Rosi recieved a telepathic message from her brother Skylar. Skylar had learned of his sister's new found love (Blagothkus) and, to spite his sister and her assention to the throne, hid the family's heirlooms within White Plume Mountiain. He gave them the following poem as a clue to the heirlooms' locations within the mountain:
You’ll find no trace of the three
Unless you follow instructions clear
For the weapons abide with me. North past forest, farm and furrow
You must go to the feathered mound
Then down away from the sun you’ll burrow
Forget life, forget light, forget sound. To rescue Wave, you must do battle
With the Beast in the Boiling Bubble
Crost cavern vast, where chain-links rattle
Lies Whelm, past water-spouts double. Blackrazor yet remains to be won
Underneath inverted ziggurat.
That garnered, think not that you’re done
For now you’ll find you are caught I care not that thou think yourself brave
Or the heroes thou didst hire.
Though mighty, I’ll make each one my slave
Or send them to the fire.
Our hero's solved traps, riddles and Wren even contracted Super-Tetanus for a short period.
In the depths of the dungeon they faced the each heirloom's guardian. Blackrazor was guarded by an Oni. Rosi and company grabbed the sword and made a hasty retreat, locking the Oni in his lair and flooding the inverted zigurat that leads to it.
Our heros then ventured toward the boiling bubble. The room was filled with boiling water that provides White Plume Mountain's famous year round plume of steam. As they entered the room the heros were protected by a bubble made of a fragile magical membrane. It was there that they faced a giant crab guarding a chest. The riddler crab did it's best to stump the intruders, but in the end, Rosi and her team were able to match wits with, and defeat, their foe.
Finally, after crossing a cavernous pit filled with boiling mud, our heros ventured into the absolute darkness of Ctenmiir's lair. They fought the vampire and his bat minions in the black void of his lair. Even though blind and battered from the adventure so far, the heros claimed victory and made off with Whelm.
The heirlooms were secured, but Skylar had one more trick up his sleeve. He sealed the wizards mouth. The only known entrance to the inside of the mountain. Fortunately, during their investigation of the dungeon, Rosi had come across a hatch leading down into a deep blackness. We finish the adventure as the heros jump into the void not knowing where, or when, their feet will find solid ground...
