Session 27: Refounding Day - Part 1

General Summary

The party prepared to track down Coda before he began his violent attack on Novus during Refounding Day, the largest holiday in the city. Winnow Olafson coordinated with Nina Cosé, a Deerai Collective mage who practices divination magic and some minor enchanting. Nina was able to successfully scry on Coda.

The scry attempt reveal several things: Coda’s attack will begin during the Refounding Day parade. He plans to release some sort of massive diversion to draw away the Brass Spears of Novus so that another group can make an assault on the Brass Ring of Novus and take the ruling assembly hostage.

The party debated putting several allies on alert, but Kara Towers warned that if Coda catches wind of a heightened security presence he may go to ground of change the plan. Both would make apprehending him in the act of a planning a terroristic attack difficult. Dac Earreac intuited that Kara was somewhat conflicted over whether she would prioritize prevent loss of life or prioritze detaining Coda.

The party decided to re-enter the tunnels, along with Kara and an orc muscle-for-hire named Dragax. They eventually came up a kobold clan that was looking to make its way surface side for the parade. Thanks to their efforts to not agitate them, the kobolds — including Kepkayk, Lawleepop, and Sinmin Bun — passed peaceably on.

As the party pressed on, they soon discovered an enchanted sawblade in the path. These saw blades matched the ones that Feyre Blackwood gave to Graft to enchant. The party guessed that perhaps Graft had joined Coda, or perhaps been abducted by him.

Calypso tried to access Ones ’s memories to learn more, discovering that the sort of magic and science Ones and Graft were pursuing was potentially unfavorable by Coda’s faction.

Meanwhile, a pack of corrupted wolves encircled the party, preparing to attack.
