Session 19: Ship in the middle of nowhere

General Summary

Today we ran into the most surprisin’ discovery in ma life up till now! New metals! Or maybe alloys, but surprisin’ nonetheless! Especially because they did not have any involvement of dwarves, not that I know of at least. But that means it can still be better than it is! But I am gettin ahead of meself. Lemme start at the beginnin’.   After spending the evening celebratin’ our initiation into the adventurers guild, we had to decide what to do next. We decided to check out that meteor first since there was also talk about a quest in that area. After finishin’ our breakfast we went to the guild hall to pick it up. The quest was to scout the area and search for signs of bandit and silver people. Deal with them as we could. A good combination as we were going to search for the meteor anyway.   While travelin’ to the area we had to go through a forest. We could see webs everywhere and were worried about spiders attackin’ us. With the help of Skrik and Voron we were able to be sneaky enough not to be noticed.   When we got to the area, we found a large amount of humanoid tracks; all going the same way. These were probably from the bandits or the silver people. Skrik and Voron did some scoutin’ and found what looked like the base where they had come from, so we got closer. What we found was not a camp, but a ship! How did a ship get all the way up here in the mountains?   The ship didn’t have any masts or sails, and it seemed to have hit the ground pretty hard as it was half buried. We figured this was the meteor we were searchin. But the most interesting part was the huge cannon that was embedded into the front of the ship. It is made out of a metal that I have never seen before. There were runes in the barrel that seem to be for accelerating a projectile when fired, but I have no idea how it could ever be loaded. The huge stone balls on the deck of the ship seem to be the projectiles, but the only way to get them into the barrel is at the front; the crane on the deck is not long enough to reach it. This makes me think no dwarf was involved in makin’ this, as we would’ve made it so much easier to load.   Skrik, Janey and Voron explored the rest of the ship while I inspected the cannon some more. Most of the rooms were empty. Whoever this ship belonged to, did not want to leave anything behind; but they did find a few things. One room had some traces of that powder that we had found a couple of weeks ago; we filled a vial with it. The ship’s kitchen contained a strange magical stove that we could not light up, but there were some strange shiny cutlery. It is not magical, but it is another strange kind of metal or alloy; very interestin’! Below deck they found a portrait of the ship; it seemed to be… flyin’ in the night sky. It seemed to be possible by the back side of the ship, but that is buried in the ground. One more tin they found in one of the bedrooms was a book containin’ pictures of nude giff. This explained why we found more of that powder on this ship, must have belonged to the giff. Why did they abandon it though?   We decided to follow the tracks to see where they would lead, but it was gettin’ dark already so we decided to rest at the ship for the night. I wish I could take some of the cannon with me to study, but this cutlery will have to do for now.
