Session 1: Fungus is Thicker than Blood Report

General Summary

Last we left off, the funguys found Warden's family where Gunthar had a slightly less than perfect reunion with them due to the false memories in his head. Warden impersonated a war forged guard from Khatharbund and went with his family to watch over them and perform some investigations. After some good food at the restaurant and a slightly offensive conversation with the mayor, they made their way to the town of Hallifel where they met a maimed red dragonborn mayor and an old woman beggar by the name of scraps. This old woman who was older looking than Gunthar ended up being his little sister and Tinkles explained to them that the promise he made was not a lie and as long as Gunthar championed for him he would uphold his end of the bargain. The staff that she held was passed over to Gunthar and he received Elmshrub's finger as well as forming a connection with the arch fey entity. The party received a message from the black dragonborn Nergama from Khatharbund that a green dragonborn barbarian with a large axe there. Using some new techniques from Shrumbo, the group teleported there and investigated the hoard at the temple of Bahamut. They found Nergama who was staring off into space and the remnants of a teleportation circle; however, there was no sign of Balazar and no sign of anything missing there. The group reacquired their dragon blade and made their way across the large bridge over the Breach waving to friends they'd made along the way and moved the city of Virifell where they began to explore their surroundings. They came across an apothecary where they learned that murders and disappearances had been occurring in the town at night before Shrumbo stumbled upon Brytha and her assistant exiting a town hall and the group followed them back to their castle. Not wanting to waste any time, the decided to attack and all of the guards and the assistant perished while Brytha turned invisible and escaped down into a labyrinth below the graveyard. The group passed through multiple rooms that were trapped and meant to stop intruders until they made their way to Brytha's chambers and discovered her journal that she had attempted to burn away. Her journal surfaced many thoughts and gave the story of how her and her brother came to be in the situation they were and explained that destroying the lich wasn't as easy as following the lore of old. In the end, diplomacy won the day and the group decided to not fight the vampire and got Shrumbo to teleport them back to Porthca. The surrounding snowy environment combined with the warmth of the city around them welcomed them as Abnor began to lead the group back to the armory in the mountain where the silver dragon lies.
