Session 5: Secrets in the Sand Report

General Summary

A fierce battle ensued between Bertrom and the two werewolves that were in his group. Summoning a pack of magical wolves, the group was almost overwhelmed until Shrumbo decided to decimate nearly everything with a Cloud kill spell. This immediately turned the tides of battle and before long, Bertrom found himself on his heels. As a last resort, he pulled out a scroll of teleport and vanished retreating into the ether. The group loaded themselves into the rat cat and began making their way towards Porthca.    After a few days on the road, the funguys found themselves camping at night, while Balazar began having some odd feelings and began noticing that the area around him seemed familiar. Following clues, the town druid led him back to the remnants of the town where she was able to enhance the fire to show him what actually happened there on that fateful night. The cult of the dragon invaded; however, they were being led by Bertrom who had the responsibility of returning all clerics and paladins back while the others were fair game. Balazar was also tested to see if he was worthy of wielding his clan's ancestral axe that had been created from the claw of a green dragon. After passing this test, the elder dragonborn faded away to dust and disappeared from sight leaving only her necklace atop her gravestone amongst the graves of the green dragonborn clan.    Moving forward towards the north, the group encountered some strange eyeless creatures wandering the snowy plains; however, they kept quiet as these creatures seemed to be attracted to sound. Having a little fun with them the group eventually went back to sleep and made their way to Porthca. After seeing a few sights of the town, the group made their way to the dragon's armory where they soon discovered the founder of the armory was the ancient silver dragon that had been with them in the battle against Tiamat. With a little wheeling and dealing, Abnor was able to get his weapon upgraded to where it wouldn't break anymore and Balazar found that through the weapon the previous clan leaders could communicate with him and assist him with tasks leaning on their knowledge. During these encounters, Shrumbo began hearing voices in his head from his hive that brought him slight concern and requested that they go into the underdark to check on them. Luckily, Windbury was one of the major cities here that they had a teleportation circle set up for that they traded and bartered goods with. The silver dragon (nicknamed Chloe) sent them to Windbury where the group exited out of the temple of Ioun. Stepping out into the cityscape, the group found themselves surrounded by large buildings, paved streets, an airship flying past them overhead, and a steel monster with round arms and legs moving across the street without really drawing any attention.
