Session 4: Apocalypse Training Report

General Summary

Last we left off, the Funguise found themselves having just awakened in a stone room lit by a single torch with a large, blind, one-eyed creature in the corner. While waiting in there and after tying Gomm up and removing his weaponry, an octopus-like creature (Mindflayer) projected his disdain toward them through the blind eye of this creature. After a somewhat brief explanation that they had been living in a pocket dimension to make them stronger to help fight against a great evil that even the mind flayers feared (The Grangerford Family), they explained that their group was tied to this evil as well and the only reason that they were kept alive and given a chance was that the need for revenge is a powerful motivator. The group settled in for a rest and food was brought to them overnight when they awakened the door was opened. It was explained that if they made it through the laboratory alive then they would be considered "good enough" and allowed to leave. Battling through the many rooms of the lab and finding secret doors, the group slayed slime ladies, a brute-ish looking brained creature, and what appeared to be a mix between a mind flayer and a young dragon. After dispatching this creature, they took a break while Warden identified the items that they had found in the room with the Dracflayer. Moving into the primary room, they came face-to-face with their captor who was a much larger mind flayer and a large brain floating in a pink, viscous fluid. He motioned towards a portal to the side of the room where another one-eyed creature sat and nodded. Suddenly, one of the walls of the room crumbled around them and Bajok stepped in with a figure donned in white robes, a staff, and a holy symbol around his neck. Amanda in a fit of rage unsheathed both of her blades and ran towards her father while the robed man held out his hand and began to chant. Swirls of dark energy encompassed him and as the troupe watched Amanda leap through the air for a moment the robed man's hand seemed to be skeletal as well as parts of his face and then it suddenly stopped and Amanda fell to the ground swords clattering against the stone and not moving. Bajok let out a laugh and glanced up towards the rest of the party who was preparing to defend themselves when the mind flayer turned back, used a psychic blade to slash the eye creature beside the portal to get it going, and a massive wave of psychic energy sent them flying into the portal. In a flash of pink and purple lightning, the group landed in a forest with what appeared to be a large stone bridge above them. The group realized that they were under the stone bridge that gapped the Breach (an area of feywild left unchecked) between Khatharbund and Virifell. Funguise, what do you do next?
