Curse of Strahd Session 10

General Summary

Goldra, 17th of Mid-Ardent

The party, along their way to the castle from Krezk, met with a strange fog:

By the time you reach Vallaki along the road, the fog in front of you begins to form a shape. Once it morphs into a mighty dragon, it whispers to you, “Seek my skull in the castle, bring it to the mansion, and bring hope to this land!”

The figure then flies overhead, dispersing within the mists of the land.

Upon arrival to Ravenloft, the party was escorted up to the guest room by Rahadin. There, they met Escher who has been one of Strahd’s latest play-things turned into a vampire spawn. He worried what Strahd had in store for him, as he believed the Dreadlord would, “toss him aside.”

Once the party was called, they went down to dine with the Dreadlord, along with a few other guests:

• Arrigal and Luvash
• Escher
• Waldemar Beck

During the event, Strahd made his announcements to each guest except for Waldemar. Escher was appointed as Burgomaster over Barovia, as the old one had died. Arrigal and Luvash were to be punished for losing Strahd’s precious tome.

The party is told that the Fevre bloodline was cursed, starting with their grandfather who tried toying with the dark powers. Ever since their encounter, the Fevres were doomed to constant tragedies. Antonin and Strahd were promised by the dark powers that their duel would mean the end of either the Fevre’s torment or of Strahd’s.

As such, Strahd intends to hold the party captive to draw out Antonin. He gave them a choice: stay in Ravenloft until he arrives or be dragged and imprisoned by force into the castle. He offered a third option, which was to provide an item that belonged to Antonin, allowing the party to run off after that.

A fight broke out when Tastarn summoned two maw demons into the chamber. During which, Strahd grabbed an item from Timmy then descended down a staircase after that. The party, after heckling Timmy for his great mistake, then follow Strahd down the staircase.
