The High and Dry Priest

General Summary

"Tell me Glim, Have you every felt the rush and joy of combat, been close to death?"

"It was scary, your heart pulses and your throat and fists clench, you feel a deep fear set root in you but then you push through it, not because you can, because you have to. Its when you push through that fear you realise what it is to be alive"

The party having entered into Vidantis decided to start the session looking around for some additional information before meeting back at the groups agreed destination of the Carnival. The Mocking jays took part in the following:

• Alex & Jun:

  Alex and Jun had some words about what had happened a few moments ago, Jun pulling Alex from the ground takes him into a semi-secluded alleyway. Jun asked him quite sternly to explain why the little child had recognised him? Has he been to this city before? Alex thought for a long and hard moment but he could not remember a place or time where he would have crossed Vidantis. However he did recall his facial features and ability to change his form. Maybe there is someone else around town like this?

  Verne took full heart and swing into the festivities! Verne started to create some food and fun treats for the people attending the festival. It was with some trepidation that the children came forward first and tasted the sweet treats. As Verne cooked Shiver approached the festivals and taking a treat asked Verne what he had been doing. Verne explains he was looking for the others and thinks they went to the carnival. The children having taken a few sweets gave their thumb of approval. With a step almost in time the rest of the city crowded around Verne an Shiver. Verne noticed that many of the cities upper classed folk were dressed in tiaras and many of them carried the Spear of Rena below their necks. The festival goers also mention repeatedly a Pity tax that has been established in Vidantis. Verne was unsure as to whether he should charge a Pity Tax on the goods he is making as he is a newcomer to the town. Shiver enquired as to who set up this tax and it seems that it was the High Priest Matthius!

  Having found the High Priest Matthius. Glim continues to enjoy the countenance of fresh ale and familiar revelry amongst his new friends who take a hearty welcome to Glim. Matthius, by Glims, eye was not as full of mirth and merriment as his others. Though he had taken his fair share of liquid courage as the glasses piled and piled in front of him. Through Glims conversations he has with Matthius he seems wanting to return to one perticulary gruesome subject. Matthius wants to know what does the brink of death feel like and has he ever experienced a dignified death. Before Glim could answer the party arrived.

 

The Party Gathers

Fresh from their outward tasks the party gather back up to meet with one another. They are quite surprised to say the least hat Glim has found himself about and around with the high folk of the town so easily. The group take a seat at the table Glim is on. Shiver jumps straight to the point about asking for healing from Matthius for his injury disease. Matthius while seeming wiling and eager to help informs Shiver that his magical energy is all but spent but offers to pray for blessings and talk to Rena on their behalf. He holds Shiver and Juns hand and they have a moment of calm in the busy tavern. When shiver and Jun feel nothing the priest smiles and apologises, maybe the wine has gotten to the brain?   It is at this point the proprietor of the Carnaval Quill offers Matthius a first hand show at the prepared events of the carnival. Matthius seemed longingly drawn by this concept and as he stood up thanked Glim for his Instructions on how to find a Dignified Death. The Mocking Jays immediately suspicious of the insinuation offered to escort Matthius through the carnival. Matthius was adamant that this is a task he has chosen and must face alone but with a few gentle nudges and sweet tongues from Glim, who had felt through the threads of time what was about to come to Matthius mouth, persuaded Mathius to let the heros of reknown escort and protect Matthius.   Matthuis and his new bodyguard entourage move to the ticket stand to get their tickets for the upcoming show. It is when Alex goes to the front of the cue he notices a man he identifies himself as Luther. Alex has a vague sense that he has met this man before. Though cannot place his finger on where, maybe he walked past Alex in a distance town? in a distant land? The scar on his face looks old and withered, Alex feels a sense of anger and heated words associated with it. None the less the party are granted entry into the Carnival.  

Inside the Show of Humble Servants

When the party initially enters the circle they are teleport ed someone not too far from Vidantis as they can still hear the low dram of the carnival outside. There current location features wooden, decaying walls with splinters coming from both sides. Standing directly in front of them is a Jester in an outdated and old hat holding a contract. As Glim grabs the paper he notices something....this paper is one he has come across before. This is a page from the book of memories. How did it get here to this Carnival? Before this one question can be answered the party hears the teleportation circle start and a Ghoul chase begins.   After many puzzles and a constant chase by the Carnivals Security Guard Ghoul, who caught up to Alex and Nearly killed him...again... the party came upon a chamber with a raised seat and three overarching pictures and too rather creepy jesters standing before them. One from before the other new. The mocking Jays were here now to pass judgement on the people and Gods and Eidolons of this World. They were allowed to ask but a few questions to each.  

"When Solaine moulded her sister Rena, she started first with the body, long silken hair with a golden strand to its right. a soft complexion and elvish ears. With the body created she...then split her magical and divine force into half. This was a sacrifice that Solaine borne for her equal. her sister."

• Finis - The Eidolon - Was Guilty due to him wanting to seem powerful and more in control than Solaine, he threatened to destroy the race of Mankind so why wouldn't he be guilty
• Solaine - The Godess of Creation and Beauty was Innocent for she was a goddess who could do no evil, even for the sake of a perceived grater good, because she was so good she was also blind to see the betrayal that was playing out before her.
• Matthius - The High Priest of Vidantis Matthius was declared a neutral party for all he had ever done was watch over the town and protect it. He even set up the pity tax in the town to help those more in need. He is an innocent member.
After casting judgement the party were shocked to find the proprietor of the Carnival was here also, a man behind the Carnival, Quill and Luther...a man who seemed to know Alex.....

  The session ended with the lines "Ahhh Alex....its been too long"
