Session 8: Choose Your Own Adventure Report

General Summary

Date: The Month of Starz 9th, 997 (Friday).    Things to note:

  • It is the 3rd day of the sickness that has been affecting a select group of residents and adventurers.
  • Beth is feeling much better, a bit sluggish from the sickness, still has a headache.
  •   Potions still in effect:
  • Tof - still does not have a shadow
  • Marin - has a point of inspiration - can walk through walls for 7 days
  • Perrin - forgotten how to read for 4 days, as well as trails green grass for 4 days
  • Beth - still has no reflection - thinks everyone is lying to her for the day
  •   Morning activities:
  • Beth went over to Perrin's home distraught, asking him why he had them play the potions game the previous night. Beth goes on talking about liars and the hinges, Perrin a bit confused and apologetic tries to reason with her, but Beth believes this was a calculated attack against her, and he's not sorry. Beth ends by saying she has lost all respect for Perrin. Perrin tries to give beth the book about the red dragon as he cannot read at the moment, but Beth says she doesn't want anything from him. Beth rushes off, and locks herself in her home after having a conversation with another person.
  •
  • noonish - Perrin, Marin, and Tof meet in the town square. Tof is reasonable nervous that he cannot find his shadow, and a sprawl of Peter Pan jokes ensue. Toff notes his interest in a translation quest, to which Marin pokes fun of Perrin's inability to read at the moment. The group drops by Beth's house to see if she wants to join the group. They knock at the door to no response, Marin peaks through the window and sees a part of Beth's dress with blood dripping down it. Perrin picklocks the door and Marin busts in quickly. Beth had transformed her hands to claws and was scratching at her arms. Marin tries to entangle Beth twice, failing both times. Perrin notes that Beth seems to be intentionally self harming by her free will. Tof runs away to go get Ellion. In the meantime Beth casts a cloud of daggers in the doorway injuring both Marin and Perrin. Tof meets Ellion at their teepee, Ellion is relaxed with a glass of wine in their hand. Tof tells them what Beth is doing as a result of their potion, Ellion seems slightly caught off guard and throws the wine over their shoulder. They dash back with Tof, jumps through the window letting off a flashbomb temporarily blinding the group. Ellion throws a handful of white powder in Beth's face and she gains clarity, the effect of the potion leaving her. Ellion wipes himself off and crawls back through the window and leaves. The group talks, Beth is still upset about the potions. Perrin thought the game would be fun, but apologizes for the craziness, which Beth now believes.
  • Marin shows concern over Beth cutting herself and she says that she will not leave Beth alone for the next 48 hours. Beth is still visibly upset about being seen as a liar and is frustrated by it. She is worried about what people will do if they find out her secret. Tof talks about not letting the past define her, and the group will not judge. After a bit more chat on the uncertainty of secrets, the group agrees to go and do a mission quest together.      Quests Tackled:
  • Mission Quest Board - Translation Assistance
  •       Session Main Quest Line:     The group goes to the house behind the town hall, they knock. From inside they hear some scraping leg chairs and someone say "FUCK", some other noises are followed by the front door opening. A satyr (brown hair and fur, big brown eyes, six fingers on each hand) opens the door, wearing round frame glasses, there is an identical satyr sitting at a table behind them wearing square frame glasses.    Behind them someone else is in the room. Sam Cook is one leg out the back window, he pauses making eye contact with the group. He pulls his leg back in, collects his reward for translating, and awkwardly shuffles out of the room before booking it away.    The satyr to open the door introduces himself as Phil, and says his brother at the table is Aaron. Say they found the scroll in the Kilstrom Capital library. They are giving 25 gold for each line translated.    Beth translates 2 lines, Marin another 2, and Tof 1. As Perrin cannot read, Marin and Tof each give Perrin a pity 5 gold.    Tof tells the brothers of other people in town with unique languages, Phil says that is great, but they do not know who any of these people are, or what they look like. The brothers agree to give an additional 25 gold if they brought people to them to translate. The group them splits up.   Marin drops by the Mayor first, shibi opens the door for her. The mayor seems much better, but still unable to walk around. The mayor asks Marin to talk to her husbands gravestone again, and make sure to tell him that she is fine, shibi is well, and the sheriff's office is being rebuilt. Marin asks the mayor if Paul ever talks back, to which both the mayor and shibi look at one another and laugh at the silly idea. Marin asks a bit more about Paul. Annie says that he loved puns, ones about nature, flowers, and such. Marin says that she told some rock puns the previous day, and the ground shook when it did, as if he was laughing. Annie grows very serious, summoning her over and taking Marin's hands, telling Marin that that did not happen and to keep that information to herself. Marin asks how Paul died, Annie says of natural causes. Marin leaves after fetching the mayor a new bucket.      Beth goes over to see Missy, gets the nose shield she had made for Isaac. She then goes over to the Peterson's house, Isaac is fanning his father on the porch, notices Beth's approach and looks away, making it very clear not to give her attention. Beth places the nose shield in an empty plant pot hanging off the porch and walks away.      Perrin goes to Groc and Sarah out in the field, he talks and signs to them asking if they will help translate. Sarah is super excited, pulling a hesitant Groc with her. They translate a line of text, Groc's eyes begging for help the entire time before Sarah marches them back out with money in hand.     Tof goes to see Ellion who is not present at first. Ellion then emerges from the back of the shoppe. Tof notes his worry about his shadow missing, and Ellion only smiles. Tof asks Ellion to translate, they go to the satyrs. Ellion quickly translating, taking their gold and parading out.    Tof and Perrin go together to see Illiad, ask him to translate as well. He agrees and translates another line. Perrin walks Illiad back to the church asking about more information on the red dragon, says there is a scroll on Yongrav in the basement that Perrin can get once the issue down there is resolved.      Tof goes to get Brian, who is lounging on a chair next to Poppy in the front of the inn. Tof asks him to translate a line, he does not seem happy, but Poppy jumps up saying she can translate. She translates the last line, tucks her coin into her bust and leaves to return to her husband's aid.      The group rejoined look over the scroll. It reads:   A Brother and A Sister – Elvish   Of opposite dispositions, but of one energy – Abyssal   Conduits of life, death, chaos, and peace – Infernal   Wrath and rage brimming over – Primordial   Peace and tranquility flowing free – Celestial   In separation they are at odds, but together they are in balance – Giant   A haven built by both in banishment, no longer a home, but a tomb – Undercommon   Abandoned by not forgotten on the cusp of their diverging worlds – Draconic   Travel southward, find where the steep mountains are interrupted by the ocean – Goblin   Test your resolve in the eyes of the siblings – Orcish     The Copperpot brothers are happy about potential treasure. Tof mentions an offerof companionship and security. The brothers think it is a good idea, but will probably not leave for another week or two. Say they will grab the group when they are ready to leave. Marin notes she wants Gems and Tof wants magical items. Perrin copies down the translated scroll for safe keeping.      Marin goes to her 2pm appointment with Paul, the group joining her. She sits in front of the grave stone, tells the stone that Annie is okay. They also proceed to make a number of puns, to which Marin notices the ground tremoring after puns are told. Marin looks to the ground and glances to the ground asking if they feel it too, Perrin and Tof notice it. Beth is unaware, but Perrin thaumaturgies a vibration under her to replicate it. After attention is brought to the tremors, they stop. Perrin thinks that Paul is laughing.    Perrin mentions checking out the mansion at some point. Tof pulls him aside saying he would be interested in checking out the mansion as well.   Marin and Beth talk to each other, suggest that they should get to know each other better, maybe so that in a quick situation Beth could impersonate Marin while she goes off bounty hunting.     The group splits off. Marin decides to go over to Ellion's Shoppe. When she enters Ellion is not in their normal spot. She looks around a bit, noticing rows and rows of empty vials on some high up shelves in the main room. There is however a single black vial in the top most corner that moves every once in a while. She tries to snoop more moving to the back, she places a pass without a trace on herself, and pokes her head through the back corner and is met instantly with white powder dispelling the magic on her. Ellion puts a mirror in front of Marin's face, showing her the consequences of her sneaking around. Marin then asks for enchantments for her gun and dagger, wanting to avoid detection and maybe have some poison on the knife - will give the enchantments in 3 days and will give surprise enchantments - she agrees. Marin also gets 10 random positions.     Perrin at home attempts to read his moon book, and pictures form instead of words but they are not nearly as helpful. Marin goes over to his house, she tries to be smooth put falls through his wall. Also attempts to see if she can go through the floor if she lays on it...she cannot. She then gives Perrin 3 potions in return for the potion game the previous night, They chat about tea a bit, but the conversation shifts the the gods and demons. Marin notes she does not like or trust fire as he is the opposite of what she stands for, and has no opinion on water. Marin returns the question. Perrin said he never considered the gods for a long time, but follows Lun as he was glad for a second chance at life and respects Lun. Perrin also notes he does not agree with Ahovz, saying her account of things may be false. Notes that Isaac gives a new perspective to sorcerers, but say he is still confused and doesn't like what is going on. Marin says trust is needed at this point, despite any imperfections. They end their conversation talking about Marin and the sheriff's vision with Earth.     Perrin talks to Tom and Nicoletta, both are wheeling around still recovering from the sickness. Perrin gives him the vial of tills poison in an effort to replicate it. Perrin leaves giving kind words to Nicoletta about a forest field trip with the other students someday.      To be continued.
