Session 27: The Air Immortal's Island Report

General Summary

Date: After the boat travel ends it is the Month of Loyalty 12th, 997 AC (Saturday).   Once you have arrived at the Air Immortal's Island, the Captain allows the party to come topside.    A few rowboats are provided and the party is taken into the thick fog that hides the island.    In the fog each party member is asked, "What is your need?"   Marin replies - "I need to fulfill my duty in trying to turn the violence into peace." She feels Earth's presence leave her and falls unconscious.   Tof replies - "Save the world, I think." He feels Erif's presence leave him and falls unconscious.    Beth replies - "I need to prove myself to Ahovz, so that sorcery can be accepted." She feels Water's presence leave her and falls unconscious.    Perrin/Alyss replies - "The chance to talk for my friends." Perrin/Alyss feels Lun's presence leave them and falls unconscious.    The fog clears and the party stands on the east sandy beaches of the Air Mediator's island. In the distance is a marble stucture and a clear path leads to it.    Beth notices now that she can no longer smell the gods as their presence is not permitted here.    Entering the marble structure the party sees a large table with 7 chairs. At the head of the table is an older gentleman, he appears to be in his sixties. He wears white robes, and a circlet atop his brow.    There is a parchment in front of him, it has been ripped in half. He holds a magnifying glass to it and reads aloud the conditions of the contract between the deities.    A child rushes past the party and goes to the old man. She is a young drow girl with a birthmark covering half her face. She gets his attention and points out the group. He thanks her, calling her Desiree.   The man invites the group to join him, introducing himself as the Air Immortal. He instructs the delegates to sit, Marin sits in Earth's chair and Beth sits in Water's. The rest of the party sits in chairs further back in the area.    One of the half orcs, Samson, sits in Starz' chair.    From the South a triton appears, they go to Water's chair and explains that they are the delegate. Beth vacates the seat.    The Air Immortal says he will wait for the other delegates to arrive. He sits in silence.    The triton introduces themself as Jilly. The party then waits around as nothing happens.    Eventually they tell the Air Immortal that more people may not be coming. He sends out 3 birds, one to Erif, one to Ahovz, and one to Lun.    The one for Lun returns quickly - it states that Perrin or Beth may take over. It specifies in the case of Perrin that Alyss may also speak for them, but Matt is not permitted to speak for them. Alyss comes forward to be the delegate.    The one for Ahovz returns and appears to be blinded with no message tied to it.    The one for Erif returns with its tail smoking. It has a note, but it bursts into flames after the Air Immortal reads it.    The Air Immortal decides to use his powers to summon an Ahovz delegate. The Messenger appears, she is the Herald of Ahovz clothed in a robe of light. She removes her hood and is revealed to be an elven woman with gold eyes.    By summoning the Ahovz delegate he has aged 20 years and grew tired. He had no power to summon another delegate and Desiree ushered him off the rest.   Alyss offered to summon Darius as she had a sending stone to his settlement. The Air Immortal agrees.    Evening falls and each person goes to their assigned tents.    During the night Mat takes control of the body but remains in Alyss's form.   In the morning the Air Immortal sent out notes to everyone stating he needed another day of rest.    Mat crosses the Air Immortal's path while he walked with Desiree. They discussed faith and the world, and the Immortal's place in all of it - Mat inquired about a common life. The Air Immortal has much to think about and goes off with Desiree.    Marin and Marcus take a picnic and discuss faith with Earth. Marin discusses her family legacy and her status as the next chieftess.    The Messenger and Tof talk. She apologizes for Ahovz' reluctance to respond in these tense times. They begin to discuss faith and Tof quickly realizes all the information the Messenger has learned came directly from Ahovz so she had a severely skewed view of the world and sorcerers. The discussion confuses the Messenger so she puts a pin in it and walks away.    Ellion takes Beth to a flower field and they discuss faith. Ellion would prefer a world without deities. Beth talks about sorcery and how she does not see it as a wrong, and that she wants to be accepted and not made to change.    After having a free day, night comes, and a third day rises.    The group comes to the table with the Air Immortal. The Air Immortal is still tired and tells Mat/Alyss that Darius will have to find his own way to the island.   The Air Immortal announces that he is going to retire and a party will take place. He thanks Alyss for her words that helped him make his choice.   To be continued.
