Session 22: On the High Seas Report

General Summary

Date: The Month of Stability 13th, 997 (Friday).     After breakfast of the first day the group disperses to explore around the boat.   Tof and Ellion make party preparations, asking Ellion to throw it for him and pretend to be Tof. Ellion agrees as long as Tof promises to try and get a hair off the air immortals head.   Beth talks with Ellion, asking what their plan with Tof is. They only smile and give Beth a single piece of confetti. Beth also speaks to Tof, where he convinces her to play music at the event. She then goes to Dolius instructing him to stay in eye sight during the party.   Marin goes to the top of the deck, speaking with the golden wig, hoop skirt, Madam Rilt. Marin also speaks with Tof asking if she should be concerned, and Tof tries to ease her worries with his plans for a party. Marin still not totally convinced tries to stay within yelling distance of her party members.   Perrin gets familiar with the ship, noting that there is not first mate on board.   -   In the two days of travel the group becomes acquainted with the crew and passengers of the ship.   There are 4 water genasi (Bliss, Ricardo, Misty, and Erwin) and 11 drow (Tazra, Jilly, Turix, Killian, Hermalta, Vix, Freya, Waltz, Blair, Ol, and Daro) on the crew.   The fellow passengers are:

Doctor Reese, Nurse Yolanda, and Nurse Polly. 3 female elves.

The boxer Trevor Like and his bodyguard Mariah Heart. both human.

The Madam's Rilt. 2 orc women.

The salesmen Duke and Jukz. both goblins.

The halfling Lilac and her tiefling partner Openness.

  It is the night of Tof's party. The deck is expertly decorated and the music is fit for dancing.   Those not in attendance: Trevor, the Madam's, Lilac, Openness, and Ellion (disguised as Tof). Perrin/Mat, deciding to be fashionably late, goes into Marin's room, taking a letter and also one of Johnny's swords.   At the party 'Tof' passes around drinks, Marin and 'Marcus' drinking on the side of the party. 'Marcus' asks to speak to Marin privately. He takes her below deck into the galley, and confesses that he likes her. Marin kisses 'Marcus', then he gets spooked by some footsteps. He moves to go into the pantry to stay hidden, and spins Marin into the pantry before closing the door. 'Marcus' does not enter the room.   Up on deck Perrin/Mat plays music while Beth takes a break to dance with Dolius. Near the end of a song Perrin/Mat gets a note in his pocket. He goes to the side to read it, sighing as he changes his appearance from Mat back into Perrin. At the end of the note, Perrin feels himself get hit in the face.   In the pantry, Marin is only there for a moment before a warhammer makes contact with her face. The hits then moving to her chest and shoulder, Perrin also feeling this pain.   Madam Rilt, the one Marin spoke to 2 days ago, is towering over her, seemingly bloodthirsty.   Perrin believes there is an invisible assailant after him, going below deck, but unable to figure out what is happening to him.   From the outside of the pantry 'Marcus' turns invisible and waits outside, a little time goes by and Openness enters the galley. Standing watch at the door.   During combat, Marin is berated by blows from Madam Rilt's warhammer, Perrin feeling this pain as he stumbles down the hallway below deck.   Perrin calls out for help, Trevor momentarily popping his head out of his room. Marcus falling out of his room, obviously drunk before falling unconscious again.   Marin turns into a direwolf, using her bulk to knock down the pantry door, crushing the invisible 'Marcus'. Now free of the pantry, Marin comes out of wildshape and activates her ring. She is willing and falls unconscious, appearing to be dead.   'Marcus' comes up, changing back into Tof. He claims Marin to be dead, The Madam Rilt not satisfied takes 3 more hits to Marin. Perrin feeling this also falls unconscious.   In the galley Tof is done with the situation, casting mirror image and opening a box towards Madam Rilt. The box blasts a light, blinding Madam Rilt. Tof then turns her attention to Openness, who does not seem disturbed by the situation. She is satisfied with the death, mentions that Lilac is also dead, and agrees to leave the ship.   Tof takes Marin in her arms and goes to get help. While looking for help Marin dies, and with that Perrin too feels as if he dies. But this pseudolike death enacts a potion effect on Perrin. Perrin comes back up at full health.   Marin having passed on appears at the base of a mountain, where Earth stands. He seems sad to see her, Marin falling to her knees knowing she had died. Earth comes to hug Marin and as he does everything fades, Marin being transported into a small study due to Perrin's casting of gentle repose.   Marin is placed in Tof's room, Tof then gathers the group, Beth and Ellion coming down.   Tof tries to call out to the deities, asking to trade places. He takes a small box out of his bag, pointing it at his chest, a sword popping out of it. He waits for the blade to pierce his chest, but it is stopped. Lun appeared, taking the box away from Tof, stating it was not a necessary action at this time.   Lun sits by Marin's side. Perrin asks if Lun knows how to help. Lun asks someone to get Mariah, and Beth retrieves her. Lun also asks Perrin to wake Marcus up, which he does. Marcus comes in, sitting by Marin's bed holding her hand.   Mariah comes to Marin's aid. Taking the diamond and casting revivify. Marin is then pulled out of the study as is collapses around her, and she is thrown back into her body.   Marin takes in her surroundings. Seeing Marcus she jumps away and threatens him. Tof tries to explain, turning his face into Marcus's saying it was him. Marcus leaves the room. Marin tries to lung at Tof, but Perrin stops it. He says everyone needs to rest, and they should speak in the morning. Marin is upset at the kiss with fake Marcus/Tof, and Perrin then is okay with her hitting Tof.   The group disperses for the night, Beth, Dolius, Ellion, and Tof having a sleepover to make sure Tof does not do anything. Before bed Marin and Perrin talk about her letters, and a bit about Mat's kleptomania   In the morning Tof received a note from Erif, which Ellion witnessed.   There is a bit of chaos on board as the crew and captain discover Lilac's dead body, the blinded Madam Rilt, and a missing passenger.   The group reconvenes to talk, Dolius and Ellion sitting in. Tof explains his connection to Erif, the contract, and the bet. Tof at first is trying to say goodbye, and he is still in servitude to Erif for 70 years after the events of last night. Saying, however, that his family is free now. The rest of them are not satisfied with him just leaving, Perrin noting that Tof is in fact an unofficial delegate to Erif.   The group goes back and forth on the issue. Marin stating she understands why he did what he did, and that she is just lad to be alive. Tof is worried that Marin is not safe as long as he is present, as Erif can instruct him to do something at any time. The group talks about their options, then Ellion steps up.   Ellion retrieves a vial, and asks for the note Erif gave Tof. Then Ellion changes into his true changeling form (shocking some of the group), and asks for one of Tof's hairs. Tof changes into his true form and provides the hair. Ellion then has Beth blow into the vial before he shakes it up.   Tof drinks this potion, and feels a weight lift off of him. Erif cannot contact Tof for a week due to the potion effect.   This satisfies the group temporarily, and they disperse. Marin giving Tof a hug first.   Marin then goes to see Marcus. He seems a bit out of it, still trying to recover from his drinking. He states that Tof got him drunk before the party. Marin explains some things, about her death, and Tof's deception. Stating she kissed Tof, thinking it was him, and that was upset as she thought Marcus had locked her in to be murdered. Marcus is apologetic, saying he wished he could have protected her. The moment grows a bit awkward about the topic of the kiss. Marcus confesses that he does actually like her and Marin kisses him.   To be continued.
