Session 13: Prep for Take Off Report

General Summary

Date: The Month of Starz 19, 997 (Monday).   Things to note:  

There are some merchants on the edge of town who have set up unofficial booths to sell goods.

A representative of Ahovz is staying in town for the week to gather information of the missing Brightlight brothers. A 1000 platinum reward is offered for producing the brothers, with smaller compensation for information.

It is Sarah Teklar's birthday. She is turning 39.

Tof still does not have a shadow.

Beth still does not have a reflection. Beth has an invisible cat like entity until the Month of Stability 4, 997 (Wednesday).

Perrin now has a brown dog staying at his house.

  Random Encounters:    

Marin on the way to the general store sees Hector leaving with his toolbox. As he walks the latch on the toolbox snaps and all of his tools fall to the group. Hector just stands there, staring at the tools through his long bangs. Marin comes over to assist snapping Hector out of his stare. He is hesitant to have her help, working quickly to gather his things. Marin assists anyways, and also uses heat metal to fix his latch. Hector stares in amazement saying he wishes he could do that.

 

Beth sees Mary exit out of the school house. Mary is engrossed in a book and doesn't see a box that was placed in her way by some adventurers. Beth tries to call out to Mary, but she does not hear, toppling over the box. Beth helps Mary up. Mary quite embarrassed asks it anyone say, Beth lies saying no one did, and Mary scurries home.

 

Tof gets bumped into by Caleb after leaving the butcher. Tof quickly notices that 2 gold are missing from his coin purse. Tof makes chase, Marin assists in catching Caleb by entangling his legs. Caleb begins to speak in Elvish, Beth the only one who understands hears him speaking in gibberish. Marin takes the lead, telling Caleb that she caught him once stealing from the church and he aught not to steal more or there will be consequences. Offers Caleb 50 gold at the end of the month if he doesn't steal for the entire month. Caleb agrees, apologizing to Tof, but says he will keep stealing eventually.

   

Beth and Tof are intercepted by Brian before leaving the inn. He offers them a platinum to put a bottle of whiskey on the right top shelf in the graveyard shed. They agree, and when going to put it away notice that there are many more bottles of whiskey from various past years lining the shelf. Beth and Tof talk for a bit, theorizing about the bottles. They however leave without tampering with the wax sealed bottle.

Ellion offers Perrin a smoke, which Perrin accepts. Ellion pulls out a small item and catches it on fire, lighting Perrin and their own cigarettes.

    ____________         Main Quest Line:     The Copperpots summoned the party to discuss their upcoming quest. Flynn, the pilot, says with his flying machine the whole adventure could take a week, but he expressed it also depended on how fast the group wanted to travel. David is coming along in the hopes of finding new items that he can sell and trade on his travels. Missy asks if the group will allow her to come along, they all agree that she can come. Phil tells the group that there is another seat open and they can bring anyone they like.   Phil ask the party to gather some supplies (2 bags of grain, 10 lbs of meat, and an ice box) - the brothers give the party enough money to cover the expenses.     Before getting the supplies, the group goes to Sarah with gifts. Marin brings a lipstick cake, Beth brings a free drink coupon, and Tof brought a ruby necklace. Sarah is overwhelmed being extremely happy, but also sad as Groc tripped that morning and was in the hospital. Sarah says he is okay, just getting older.      Going to the general store, Marin notes that there are no grains left in stock. Opal says she sold the last 2 bags to Ben at the bakery. They purchase an ice box in the meantime.    At the bakery, Ben needs the wheat for some orders, but says he is willing to give it to the party if they retrieve a ring he lost in a bet to Naomi. It is a simple gold band that he normally wears on his left hand's middle finger.    The group stops at Steven's Butcher shop next, picking up 10 lbs of meat.    At the inn, Naomi will give the ring back if the group gets a pie recipe from Sam Cook.    Sam is back in the kitchen, he is ducking behind the window as he stirs a pot of soup. He says he will give the group the recipe if they get rid of a guy sitting in the inn; a halfling man with bushy hair dressed in all black. Sam appears very distressed.   Tof speaks in under common to Sam, causing him to spill the soup in the floor. Sam shaken, still refuses to divulge any more information.   Tof goes and speaks to the man at the table. Making awkward conversation until the man says 'I was enjoying the clouds yesterday', Tof responds, and the man gets up and leaves telling Tof not to bother him again. Tof returns to Sam and asks him about what it going on, Sam again does not wish to talk on the subject, but once hearing what was discussed says 'the clouds are abound'.    With the man gone, Sam gives up the recipe, Naomi returns the ring, and Ben hands over the two bags of wheat.    The group does some individual shopping before returning to the Copperpots with the supplies.    The group then discusses a potential plus one, deciding that they would ask Ellion. Ellion meets with the group on the way to the Magic Shoppe, letting them in and then taking their usual stance with a glass of wine. Beth takes the lead asking Ellion to come along. Ellion agrees.   There is talk of potions. Perrin suggests Ellion join the group for potions sometime, which they say no to. Some items are purchased in this time.    TOF POTION - Tof downs the random potion he buys instantly. He is now aware of where Isaac is at all times for 2 days.    Ellion pulls Beth away from the group, going behind the curtain in the back. Beth returns with 10 gold in hand, and Ellion stays behind. Beth ushers the group out.    The group now considers Sam's situation and the mysterious man. Tof changes into Zorrin and meets with the halfling again. This time when the man says 'I was enjoying the clouds yesterday', Zorrin responds with 'the clouds are abound'. The man gives Zorrin a bag and walks out out town. In the bag are a number of small crystals that Tof recognizes as Bergtar heroin.    Tof returns to the inn and shows Sam the crystals. Sam expresses he wants nothing to do with this situation, that some things in his past were bothering him now. Sam says he got a letter telling him about the man, the code word, and that the bag was to be left in room 213 of the inn. Tof asks that if he puts the drugs in their place if Sam will tell him about what is going on. Sam says probably not, but he'd appreciate the help anyway. Tof agrees to place the drugs.      The group devises a plan. Tof changing into Kalia the red tiefling, and Marin turning into a small spider on Kalia's shoulder.   Going to 213 Kalia knocks. Hector the handyman opens the door saying he is fixing the floorboards in this unit. Hector leaves the unit after Kalia says she was given this room to stay in. Kalia places the drugs under the brought up floorboards and arranges them to hide the product. Marin gets off their shoulder and hides in the corner of the room.      While Marin stakes out the place, Perrin goes to the hospital to see Tom. Tom is treating Groc, who refuses Perrin's offer of magical healing. Perrin gives Tom the sending stone to Yantuma to use while he is away.   The group then goes to the tavern where the Ahovz messenger is dampening the mood. Beth starts playing music outside and draws the drinkers to the town square.    Over the night no one enters room 213. In the morning Marin leaves out the window.     

20th (Tuesday)

The group discusses their options about Ahovz' messenger. They discuss the issues of the Brightlight brothers and Isaac. They agree that if the whole town is silent that is more suspicious than stating that the brothers had been around town and then left.    Perrin decides to talk to the messenger. Going to the inn and breaking the barrier that everyone has created around the messenger's table. The messenger greets Perrin saying 'Hello my Child."      To be continued.
