Session 12: The Town Hall Report

General Summary

Date: The Month of Starz 18, 997 (Sunday).   Quest Tackled: Town Hall Organization (Interrupted)   Some things to note:  

Molly turned 15 on the 17th.

Flynn Flan, self proclaimed pilot, moved into Little Town. He is residing in the house on the outskirts of town closest to Liam Jenkins.

When David returned to town a few days ago he posted news he heard.

There are some merchants who have set off unofficial booths by the entrance gate into Little Town.

A pair of missing person posters were put up for Dominic and Roger Brightlight. A messenger from Ahovz is residing in the inn for a week looking for information. A reward for 1000 platinum is in place for whoever produces the brothers.

  Before Meeting at Town Hall:  

Marin conducted another stone ritual in the woods.

Perrin went to the store and purchased a notebook from Opal.

Tof went into the General Store as WAP and ordered a block of cheese from Opal.

    Random Encounters:    

Marin - Brian offered Marin a free drink every night for the week if she made sure people were not overly flirting with Naomi. He is concerned since she has been very involved with Starz this month, and his influence is large. Marin agreed to watch over Naomi from 9 - close.

 

Perrin - Perrin saw a brown dog with no collar run past him. Perrin followed the dog, watching it frolic and lay in the sand. The dog was friendly, and ran off after some pets. Perrin checked with Poppy seeing if she new the dog. Poppy recalled a smaller white dog with the merchants outside town, but no brown dog. Sam gave Perrin some bacon for the dog, soon after the dog appeared for the snacks and started following Perrin around.

 

Tof - The Reverend ran into the General Store while WAP was present. Asked if he had a message for the gods. WAP responded in Sylvan, to which the Reverend said the gods would understand that and ran off.

Beth - Nicoletta was waiting for Beth and gave her a new picture. It showed Beth in her new skirt playing an instrument. Beth went to hang it inside after Nicoletta left.

    Main Quest Line:     The group gathered outside the Town Hall. They are all momentarily distracted by the brown dog with Perrin. Marin speaks with animals and gets many his, a love of bacon and pets, and no other information other than the dog looked at Perrin when asked about person and home.     The group goes into the Town Hall to the 2nd floor. The storage area which was once a sitting lounge is 35 feet long and 10 feet wide. It is overflowing with books and papers. A number of bookshelves have cracked under the weight of items, and things are scattered about. Everything is covered in a layer of dust.   Tasks done:  

The group first moved all the books into the hallway to be organized.

 

Marin retrieved the cleaning materials from the Mayor's Office. During so she checked the room for secret things, did not find anything. Marin also found a ring that multiplied items after 3 taps. It perfectly replicated a book twice and a scarf. The ring did not work on a coin, Tof, Tippy the mouse, or a chalk Perrin produced. It did work on Tof's shirt, but this replica was not a perfect match. After wrapping up the ring she continued putting items into baskets to create some order.

 

Perrin opened a window to help with the dust. Also organized the filling cabinet that held wedding certificates, birth and death notices, and general documents on the buildings in town.

 

Beth organized the books in the hallway. She noticed a trend where all books on nature and flowers had Annie's name written in it with a heart over the i.

 

Tof supervised from the couch.

 

The group noted a wooden and metal chest in the room. Tof was unsuccessful in opening either, Perrin however opened the wooden one.

  The wooden chest was a hope chest containing the Mayor's wine stained wedding dress, a number of congratulation cards, the marriage certificate, a set of fine china, and a wedding portrait. It showed a young mayor with her husband Paul. Marin instantly recognized this man as Earth, and Perrin as the man he saw in his vision.     A few moments later from the hallway Beth saw the mayor come upstairs. The mayor entered into the storage room just as Tof was able to unlock the metal chest. Annie interrupted him, and seeing the painting the Marin was holding Annie commented on how young they both were, and how handsome Paul was. Annie sits on the couch, comments how it seems to be 4:30pm outside, and looks about the room complimenting the work, and talked to Perrin a bit on how to rearrange the furniture.   Beth hears uneven footsteps and looks up to see a man she has never seen before. He smiles at her and walks past. Annie comes back to the doorway and greats Earth saying 'thank goodness you are home', thus fulfilling the vision Perrin witnessed.   Annie and Earth talk briefly where Annie says she kept up her side of the bargain, not telling anyone about him. She couldn't control what they'd find in this room.   Marin goes into worshiper mode, falling to her knees, apologizing for figuring out his secret. Perrin uses his divine sense, connecting the dots of Paul and Earth.   Paul suggests the group go have a sit down at Marin's house. Marin runs off to prepare thing as Perrin and Paul move furniture together. During this Tof stood back noticing Paul glare at him from time to time.   The group heads out, picking up Marcus on the way over (much to his shock). Marcus grabs his hat and asks Beth what they did, Beth informed him Earth and Annie were married. Perrin drops the brown dog off at his house quickly.   Marin prepared a number of baked goods and teas, making sure that there was no cinnamon near Earth. The group sits in a circle around Marin's table. Paul asks what everything has in it before taking some rye break and making black tea. Marcus sits making his tea with shaking hands. Perrin casts calm emotions over the entire group, effecting all but Earth.     Conversation's had during the sit down:     Paul breaks the ice asking about Little Town. Perrin comments on the oddities that happen as well as the mysteries, such as flying machine, sick people, death. Earth responds referring to his own nature, how he works in the realm of chaos and peace trying to strike a form of 'neutrality' that is balance. Beth adds in that the town is quiet enough, and that is a good thing. Earth responds that for her that is a good thing, saying that Little Town is very accepting. He then asks if Beth knows Isaac, happy they have met. Earth turns to Tof asking his name, then Paul comments that he thought Tof had a different name. Paul also asks Tof if he liked his hike? Tof said it was eye opening, also expressing his respect for the mayor.   The topic turns to Johnny, and Earth says that Johnny is one of his followers, one that works on the side of chaos. Perrin notes that the window was broken at the mansion and asks Annie about cleaning up the mansion, to which she says not to bother at this time   Marin a bit uncertain on how to refer to Earth asks his thoughts. He says Earth is fine, along with Paul or Mr. Willow. But depending on the question it may be best to ask Paul or Earth as consciousness is a bit strange. Marin, understandably still shaken, wonders about her purpose. Earth reassuring her that he brought her to Little Town (noting the need of Water's assistance in a snow storm) and that her actions with the Brightlight brothers, while strange, was good for the balance and that in that situation there was no right or wrong answers. The whole ordeal was more a favor to Annie. This sparks interest, and Annie confesses to have inserting herself in the situation, asking her husband to intervene and save Isaac.   Marin asks more about Earth and Paul. Earth states that he did not marry Annie, but Paul did. Earth inhabits Paul's body, Paul was a follower of his and his body was randomly chosen to be used; Paul agreed to the arrangement. Paul kept his autonomy until Earth called to use him, unfortunately calling Paul after his leg was injured, leading to Earth experiencing chronic pain. Paul's body has been in stasis since being bonded to Earth - leaving them at the age of 58. He comments on how a bond like this is very strong, and hard for the other deities to maintain - noting how Starz can only occupy people for a short amount of time. Paul is still in the person, and can sometimes take more control depending on where Earth's focus is.   Perrin mentions Ellion and how Perrin was able to recognize Paul from a vision he got from a potion. Earth comments on how Ellion must be a powerful magician if he can do such things.   Perrin asks Earth about his stance on sorcerers. Earth expresses that sorcerers are on the wrong side of history a bit unjustly. Many libraries burned that held texts on them, and all that remains in written text is sorcerers connections to Erif an their impact in the war. Earth talks about Ahovz, how this aggression is mainly her doing. While Ahovz is a very gentle and motherly figure most of the time, if loyalty is lost or wrongs done against her the warrior that was once a part of her comes to the surface, and that side is deadly. He continues saying that while she has her opinions, he has his own just as the other dieties do. He again speaks of how he is glad Little Town is a safe space but still he cannot contact sorcerers, starting a gesture across the table before Annie stops him, and Earth continues saying that for example if he came into direct contact with Isaac it may upset Ahovz and cause a negative reaction.   Tof and Perrin ask Earth about the threat of Erif on Little Town or the Mayor - Paul starts saying there is a threat. Earth also mentions however that the threat is lessened by the knowledge that has been gathered, and well as by the awareness of the group.   Paul asks if there are general questions, comments, concerns, saying that he would rather not wipe any memories this night. He hopes the group is willing to keep the secret, and keep Little Town safe. Earth is satisfied with the responses.   Marin also asks a favor of Earth, asks him to hold her Druidic force. - Earth a bit flattered and a bit confused, since he physically made the druidic force for her, holds the focus for a bit before giving it back.   The conversation is interrupted with a knock at the door. Marin opens it to Naomi who has the shades of Starz on her face. Starz says he needs to speak to Earth immediately. Earth tells Marin to let him in. Starz rushes in and grabs Earth before pulling back his hand, showing that Naomi's hand is singed after touching him. Starz says 'are you insane, I can smell you all the way from the inn' before getting Earth to talk to him away from the group.' - the group listens in catching the phrase 'it's her' - Earth thanks Starz for the information, and Starz leaves quickly.   Paul gives Annie a kiss on the cheek before saying he has to go now. He entrusts Marcus the town, telling Marin to do anything he needs without question. He goes around shaking Marin, Marcus, and Perrin's hands, slapping Tof on the back, and giving Beth a distanced bow. He leaves with a shake in the ground.   Annie leaves soon after.   The comment that Starz made to Earth about smell stuck in Beth's head, and with a deep breath noticed that Marin and Marcus had the scent of Earth on them. She could also smell Lun on Perrin.   Marin then has an identity crisis. Mentioning how her life is crafted around a deity that is now seen to be fallible. He used to be an untouchable vision, now he was quite physical to her.   The group chats and goes their separate ways for the evening.   Marin goes to keep an eye on Naomi, taking advantage of her free drink. Perrin washes the brown dog, and sacrifices noted from his meeting with Earth to his shrine to Lun.   -   The next morning the group is summoned by the Copperpots. The satyr Phil (with his round glasses) opens the door. Inside the group can see David looking over a map with Aaron, by the window Missy is sitting in a chair biting her thumbnail nervously, and Flynn is also present - he's holding a tea cup in his hand and smiles widely when he sees the group and he says 'hey guys, ready for an adventure?'   To be continued.
