Session 20: The Verge to Leave Little Town Report

General Summary

Date: The Month of Stability 5th, 997 (Thursday).   Liam Jenkin's house burned down the evening of the 3rd. Don was at the scene, along with Perrin. He would tell anyone who came running that it was a controlled burn and they should return about their business. This worked for many, the permanent residents returning to their homes, but some adventurers stood by with water pales in hand just in case the fire jumped to the nearby grass. Matthias and Divine approached the house, Don walking away from the flames to meet with them. The group exchanged some words, resulting in Divine breaking her stoic character and yelling at Don. Matthias pulled Divine away, returning to the safety of their tents. Marcus arrived shortly after, his concern for the fire faded after seeing Don's brown hair, the two embracing after talking for a moment.   The house burned late into the night, things popping and exploding from time to time, but the flames did die eventually. The ash staying mostly contained inside the metal fence around the perimeter.   Liam cheered from the third story balcony of the mansion, rejoicing that he had finally been cleansed of the demons that plagued him and his house. After a short meeting with Don, Marcus, and Annie, it was decided Liam would be moved into the house behind the town hall - where the Copperpots once stayed. Now on the 5th there is a nice wooden fence around the perimeter, courtesy of the Clarks, and Liam has taken to gardening - no longer shrieking about demons.   On the 4th David returned to town in a grand display. He rushed in, cart on fire, driving it into the lake, before dashing to the inn to hide from the Sun Goddess's wrath. His face now bare of freckles, and his eyes no longer gold.   _   Marcus has summoned the group to the sheriff's office after school has ended for the day.   Entering into the office, Johnny and a man are sitting smoking. Beth and Marin know this to be Dominic. He has a human form, dirty blonde hair, brown eyes, and a beauty mark under his right eye - he wears a pair of Marcus's clothes.   Marcus enters, lighting a cigarette of his own, Marin also taking one.   Marcus gathered the group because Johnny was able to get a ship. It is in the port town of Clasdow, Qwiv - just across the boarder. The journey will take a little less than a week, and their contact is Captain Risingstar. A drow with a fantastic eyepatch.   Marcus says he wants to come along to keep an eye on Johnny; he notes that his father and Hector have agreed to help Don keep the peace.   They are going to take David's extra cart which seats 6, and can take up to 4 horses from Vern if needed. The group think on this and then disperse to get things ready for their trip.   After the meeting Beth talks with Poppy, then places a request on the mission board for someone to use magic to send a message for her. Lang is able to get a message to Dolius, stating that she will be bringing him back for a mission. Dolius only asks he be given two days to finish his own business. Beth also goes and gets a horn instrument from the inn, organizing the other instruments while she is at it.   Perrin get's his boots from David. He also goes around letting, Mary, Annie, Don, and Poppy that he is going away for a year. Perrin also gives more holy water to Liam which he promptly uses to try and grow holy plants around the perimeter of his house.   Tof goes to see Ellion, asking if they will come. After hearing Beth is going they agree.   At 2pm the group regathers, going to Marin's house.   Beth tells the group that she invited Dolius, Tof mentioning he invited Ellion. They all agree to wait 2 days before going.   Beth returns to the inn and talks to Naomi/Starz, making sure that he will bring Dolius to Little Town. He agrees, they gossip, and he leaves. Matthias witnesses this exchange.   That night Marin and Beth go to Mary's book club that starts at 6pm. Don, Opal, Agnus, and Sarah are also present. It is the first night of a new book, so the conversation is more open ended. People catching up and enjoying snacks.   Don asks Marin about her departure. The conversation quickly shifts to Agnus woe-ing about the issues with her goddess, Ahovz. Sarah is glad to have broken ties with Ahovz, Don more at ease as it was his childhood faith and he did not have the same fate as David.   Marin admits she never like Ahovz, and Agnus is upset by this. Agnus states she understands other fates, but is hopeful people see the good in Ahovz.   Marin asks what Agnus thinks of Marcus's faith. She tried to raise him as a sun goddess follower, but she understands in his teen years why he turned to Earth. She hoped it was a phase, but it wasn't. And now his soul is damned.   Marin and Beth both excuse themselves from the book club after this conversation.   -   On the 8th the group is ready to go.   Beth drops by the Reverend and gets a holy symbol of all the deities from him.   Bush lee is joining the group, along with Perrin's dog.   Marin is holding onto Johnny's swords. Johnny is not restrained as he has had good behavior in the recent past.   The group are about to leave when Matthias and Divine come over exclaiming "So you're going on a trip I see!"   To be continued...
