Session Two: A Story About Motherhood Report

General Summary

Torji informs the group of adventurers that they have been hiding from a Manticore that was somehow able to sneak past her alarm system. She reluctantly informs the adventurers that she is protecting Melira, the pregnant woman, from a group of cultists called The Sixth Coven. According, to Torji, The Sixth Coven believe Melira's child will fulfill a prophecy. Torji goes on to explain that she helped take care of many of the young gnomes in Gafyros, notably Melira and Asan. When Torji finds out Asan is the one who sent the adventurers here, she is unsurprised. He has treated her as a frail old woman for quite some time now and is always making futile attempts to get her to move back to the city.   Desha, Maru, and Ro decide to take on the Manticore with a little help from Torji's enchanted broom. The fight was brutal but ultimately, the monster was slain. While Desha was harvesting trophies from the Manticore's body, the group was trying to figure out what to do about the baby Manticore. Ultimately, it was decided that for the time being, Maru would take care of it. They have decided to name the manticore cub Trouble.   Torji asked that the group help her get a new security system. Not only was the Manticore somehow able to get passed it, the adventurers also destroyed some of her heaviest hitters. She told the group to seek a wizard named Wam who set her security system up about twenty years prior. She told them that he is known to frequent a place called the Pyramid Club in Notero.   On their journey back to Gafyros, the group passed the strange pond again with the faux Roseberry atop it. When they went to inspect further, two ghouls covered in slime that smelled like death emerged from the pond and attacked the party. The fight was quick and easy, but presented a confusing new danger. Desha pushed the "corpses" back into the pond, hoping not to see them again.   The group made their way to Gafyros and first updated Asan on Torji's situation. Their interaction with Asan made the group suspicious of the gnome. From there, the group decided to split up to find more information about the senator, Asan, and see if they could find any information about cult activity in the town.   Ro and Maru went to the Purple Herons Mercenary Company. They talked to Elvis and learned about a recent assassination attempt on the senator a few weeks ago. Since then, the senator has not been seen in town and all communication has gone through Asan.   Desha went to the Broken Sword Inn and Tavern where she got into an arm wrestling competition with a dwarf. She learned about a rumor that the assassination attempt was magical in nature and that a person in a dark purple cloak was seen leaving the scene.   That evening, the group decided to stay at the The Hungry Pilgrim Inn instead of the Broken Sword Inn & Tavern hoping that they would have a better night's sleep there. Unfortunately, they were plagued by strange dreams that would haunt them through the next morning.
