The caravan enjoy a safer passage through Grafagarth. But next they must prepare a journey across swamps and open lands to the next stop.
The busy streets of Karst is often drowned in the sound of sledgehammers, pipework and construction. Many an inhabitant have found their home in old quarries, packed hostels or perhaps in the highly competitive markets above. But many dream of fresh starts, warmer sands and an ocean breeze of opportunities. Among these people we find Nancy: A nurse from another universe, previously involved with some heresy at the local monastery. Now healed in body and spirit by the abbess there, she has one last unanswered question: What happened to Burt Bell, the 100-year-old man who climbed out his window and disappeared? Karst lies deep within forested valleys, the common route out being through safe but heavily taxed roads north. The alternatives are neither uncharted nor risk free. A small caravan has set their sights on a new journey: A journey to the west.
