Esterson Session 24

General Summary

I don’t like how this is going, especially if we’re in need of the Thomter’s assistance. I cannot deny their expertise with the Averse despite the fact they were molded by it. It is why they will be leading us to where this telepathic secret weapon is.

According to them, it will take us to the Carved Paths. Those are old pathways used during the Incursion. Such a festering maze is full of demons and other festering creatures. We will want General Lenhall’s aid for this because I doubt Vicarion will want to lose his precious monstrosity.

The Hunt for Big Noggin

Aversal influences

Along the way through the paths, the party dealt with strange runes and voices desperate to have the characters inscribe a phrase they heard in their heads onto rocks:

That which is hollow can eternal lie, for after strange aeons, they cannot die!

Through their moldings they were made and their rejection had the maker betrayed.

Their prison of flesh was rendered broken and within them writhed and wriggled, for they had awoken.

The one bound in yellow wrappings shall bring an age overlapping!

Bountiful are worlds to be known but they cannot be shown while he is alone!

With time, the party pulled through and managed to reach the fortress holding the Big Noggin.

Big Noggin Fortress

With the help of General Lenhall’s army providing a distraction, it drew out the main defenders. This allowed the party an easy way inside and infiltrate the fortress.

Down a hall, they met with simple roden workers harvesting odd green Aversal crystals. By emotional manipulation, the roden trusted the party as they helped them in their chores. They insisted not to meddle with the Big Noggin down the hall.

Of course, who follows such warnings?

The party went inside and found the Big Noggin’s chamber. Their, Setesk was found alone goading the wretched thing into working. What the party did not expect too swiftly was Setesk calling upon Lost Legion phantom warriors that appeared through Etherius.

With haste, the party destroyed the red crystal stabilizers, dropping the Big Noggin into its Aversal sludge pool below. What occurred next was that chunks of the Big Noggin were ripped in two and it formed mighty Aversal horrors that attacked anything in sight. Setesk used the opportunity to flee as nothing could be salvaged from the operation as a result.

With a small bit of aid from the Lost Legion, the party managed to defeat both monstrosities and head out out of the fortress.
