Esterson Session 6

General Summary

Our mysterious helper is at it again, I'm afraid. This time, with news about Sen. Turns out he has been living in squalor within the Bruiser Bear Tavern. Apparently he gets paid being a regular fighter for free lodging and food.

Our contact mentions that vicians are involved similar to Emoru's predicament. Those fiends will have the advantage against that twig getting roughed up in there. It would mean a lot if you rescued him as you did with Emoru. Just don't tell her about this.

Adventure Preparations

The party had a nightmarish dream of Festus having killed fellow guildhall members. He mentions that a vician of interest has sought out Betrayed One's blessing. So they had better watch themselves closely. From there, the party would awaken within their dorms. The real Festus would fetch Emoru to go on diversionary shopping trip to prepare for summer festivities while the party has their briefing about Sen.

Town of Glenhill

The party heads to the nearest town of Glenhill. An unsightly place where both the poor and unsavory types live. They head to the Bruiser Bear Tavern where Sen has been living in squalor in exchange for being an errand boy and a regular fighter. Oddly enough, he's been heading to the local chapel there despite not even being remotely religious.

The party heads to the wretched chapel there, the vicar doing his best to keep some semblance of a Revered presence in the town. He explains that Sen is an irritable man who refuses to say anything. Knowing that the half-elf could wallop him with a punch, the vicar lets him sit in silence within the chapel, even overnight! The party had arrived during the midday so Johan and Maedhros split to go find him the merchant quarters. Sen was found there finishing up his errands. The two of them go to Sen, hoping to coax him to go back with them to Esterson Hall. The stubborn half-elf just kept moving on, insistent he was of no use to anyone. Sen eventually reached the chapel and sat silently within the pews. The vicar then shooed the party as dusk was coming.

Vicar Revel and his Communion

When night fell, that's when it got interesting. When the party reentered the chapel, the lights were dimmed at most. A terrible voice called out to them...

"Greetings supplicants. Hast thou come to seek more of my truths? Nay, I sense those who must confront that cruel reality first. For they may be blinded by falsehoods now but I shall remove thy blindfolds from thee."

The party came across a communion of the dead led by Vicar Revel, a macabre and gloomy individual that Sen had been seeing. Hesitant to let things proceed, Maedhros has decked Sen unconscious. The party engaged the Vicar and a few of his spiritual followers. After a tough fight, the Vicar backed off. He stated that the party could have Sen so long as they did no harm unto his departed followers. They had dragged Sen's unconscious body all the way back to Esterson Hall.

Back at Esterson Hall

Back at the hall, the party met with Albert Mayhew, a kindly gentleman and close advisor to Queen Amelia Dundragon. He provided two requests for the party that would help ease the pressures the Queen is facing.

• There are reports of inferiin poisons being moved about that are aimed to land in the hands of orcs. If those are provided to those orcs, it will lend them an edge against the goliaths in Hulstead.
• Roden spies are reported within the valley in Kalgarim. The hope is to kill of the rodents before they have the chance to swarm a village.

Afterwards, Antharine had hoped to grow a bit closer with Maedhros. They took an awkward walk around the guild hall. Impatient and flustered, Maedhros kissed Antharine by surprise. After a failed exchange of compliments for Antharine, she ran off to Welma, believing she had ruined it.

The three of them eventually regrouped in the planning room. Welma was insistent that the two of them keep trying. They should at least take a break and try getting the sparks between them going rather than this awkward tension they're having.

On the other, the party were hearing things go down from within the dorm and had a rough idea of what was going on. Even poor Kastor got knocked out by Antharine in the end for being surprised she had kissed someone.
