The Waning Light

In the eastern hemisphere of Orion lay the continent of Koehlas‌, also known as the Wildlands. Divided by mountains and a desert, the Rigid Wilds and The Golden Shores‌, north and south respectively, sparsely interact. The Golden Shores‌ prosper from copious trading vessels hailing from Eiluan‌, Renadar, Nimrunes, and occasionally from the Shattered Isles. Strangers often find themselves along the Shining Way, occasionally wandering into the Gwyntop Mountains. Some find their riches through the calm waters of the Mar De Ladrones or traversing the ruins of the Hencors Mire‌. The welcoming people of The Golden Shores‌ breathe a joyous atmosphere amongst the whispers and rumors that circulate around Koehlas‌.
‌ However, our adventure does not start in The Golden Shores‌. We begin in the politically charged region that is the Rigid Wilds. The north is primarily conquered by the Xurian Empire‌ and Croin Nation‌. Separated by the Long River, the two nations constantly fight over every fundamental decision. The Croin Nation‌, led by the priest Gaston d'Vieuxrois‌, closely follow the teachings of The Church of Holy Guidance‌.
‌ The Xurian Empire‌, once led by the emperor Dealmael, see the devotion of the Croin Nation‌ fanatical and an assault against their way of life. For that, the Great Cleanse purged Xurian‌ lands from all magic, under penalty of death. Many fled. Some to the Croin Nation‌ where they were forced to devote themselves to a group of deities they held no faith in. Others attempted to flee across the Gwyntop Mountains, often finding death from many of the tribes of Giants sprawling throughout.
‌ Still then, centuries later the scars of the Great Cleanse leave a lingering scent. Many Xurians‌ itch to return to a time when the Dagolynian's‌ and their good king Sir Elwyn ap-Eliston led a prospering countryside; To the old times. For now, they are forced to follow Deorgyr von Oldenhaupt‌ and his High Guard‌ and watch this nation spiral into its New World Order.
