Session 9: Gorgon on a Roof Report
General Summary
Ever want to fight a marauding gorgon on a roof? What about on the roof of buildings that move? What about from within a walking building sitting atop another walking building as all the other buildings around also raise, lower, and wander around? We've got you covered! As the explorers find themselves attacked by a large, metal-clad bull -- a gas-spewing gorgon -- they also find themselves having to deal with the fact that their apparently sentient, lizard-legged, three-story mobile building does NOT want to be attacked by a large, metal-clad bull and so is doing everything it can to get away from that situation. Nothing to be done about that, though, since Leonardo leapt out onto the lower rooftop at the beginning of the fight and now he's out there all by himself facing the charge of the snorting beast. How'd they get into this situation? Well, see last episode, and also the fact that, while in an area of the Forever City controlled by a mad necromancer, Happy summoned some of the most powerful divine powers at her command, while Fallenbridge screeched loud enough to pulverize skeletal hordes. Drew some attention, that. Anyway, As their building tries to escape out from under them, the heroes rush from one window to the next in order to get magical and mundane attacks in on the gorgon. This works with varying degrees of success, as do Leonardo's hatchet attacks. But, seeing that the apartment building is about to take off, Silent Sam throws himself out of a window in an attempt to get down to the lower roof where he can help Leonardo ... but instead slips and falls three stories to land, winded and battered, on the cobblestone street below. Soon followed by Leonardo. And then, as Cerise throws a spear that clangs off of the gorgon, a spear. Fortunately, Silent Sam was no longer where the spear landed. Instead, he parcour'd up the side of the building as the others piled out of the moving apartment complex. The gorgon, seeing a chance against the larger prey, attacked the building and flipped it to wedge between two nearby buildings in a awkward, architectural threesome. Or foursome, if you include Fallenbridge, who hadn't managed to get out of the building in time and so was left to tumble and toss and have furniture dumped on top of him. But, with Happy, Cerise, Silent Sam, and Leonardo all ganging up on the gorgon, it didn't look good for our heroic metal bull. So it breathed petrifying gass on them. Both Happy and Leonardo found themselves solidifying, but were able to shake it off through the power of love ... or hardy constitutions. After that, despite an attempt by the gorgon to flee, it was smoted. Also, the explorers discovered that, somehow, the apartment buildign had decided that they were they ones who had saved it, and so also decided to take them on north to the edge of the Citywalk District, which is as far as it can go because, y'know, the name.
