Adventure 1; Session 1 Boarding the Blind Seagull Report

General Summary

Opening/Intorductions

We open on the tip tops of evergreen trees swaying lightly in the breeze. In the distance is the first orange-pink light of predawn rising over the waves of the sea. The sun just barely peeks over the horizon and the trees rustle loudly from a suddent gust of wind, swaying more dramatically. We cut to a path in the woods, inches from the ground as the rustling meshes with the sound of heavy leather boots hustling through fallen pine needles, followed quickly by canine paws running past. We lift and turn to see a tall and broad figure in a hooded cloak, running swiftly but quietly down the path. followed closely by a wolf.   We accelerate down the path past the duo, sweeping along the sloping path through the woods, and break through the trees to see the sunrise in full over the sea. The path leads down to a handful of brick buildings and maybe a dozen wooden houses. Seagulls circle above and humans buzz about the docks, loading nets, ropes and crab pots onto ships. We turn left, then right, brushing past a woman coiling rope then a child mending a woven crab trap.   We come to a small rowboat with an old, bearded gnome and a young, brawny half-elf who turns impatiently towards the rising sun.   Gobbert - "I know you're excited but don't fret and don't be a bother. He's a paying customer like any other."   Fiddle - "I've never met an orc before though! Do you think he's a pirate, like in the Tusk?"   Gobbert - "He's a long way from home if so, but I doubt it. Seems like he might be from a hold nearby."   Gasps and grumbles rise from the docks as a large orc arrives, followed by his wolf.   Mac greets the pair, and introduces his wolf, Axe.
We swoop past the rowboat to a two-mast sailing ship a hundred or so feet out to sea, passing the flip of a radiant fish tail at least as large as an adult's legs. A few sailors are swabbing the deck, securing cargo. We close in on a fox tail twitching, and follow it up to the railing at waist height where two dextrous hands untie a knot, and retie it exactly as it was, with two deliberate tightening tugs for good measure. We zoom out to see a Kitsy woman nodding with satisfaction at her work. The voice of an older man is heard behind her   Digsby - "Everything looking ship shape? Heh Heh. Forgive an old sailor his puns."   The captain is a thin, weathered man, wearing a pratical coat. His Wrinkled face and beard fail to hide kind eyes and a warm smile.   Din Exhanges puns and reassurances with Cpt. Digsby that everything is prepared for the voyage.
Water splashes loudly toward the aft of the ship. We see a well-armed Catfolk woman helping up an Azarketi woman back aboard the ship as a straighthaired elven woman looks on. The Mermaid's tail rapidly bisecting and transforming into almost-human feet.   Lady Hailin - "Good to see you back. No surprises below, I trust?" These waters should be relatively uninhabited."   The Elf is tall, with straight hair and so pale and this as to look sick. The Catfolk (or Amurrun, as they prefer) on the otherhand is sturdy and stout, with a distinct white spike of fur running up her nose to her forehead. She smiles and pats the Dripping wet Azarketi on the back as she hurdles the railing.   Amelia informs Lady Hailin and Gormly that there is nothing unusual to report and there should be no disturbances before setting sail.
Gobbert, Fiddle and -Angel- climb aboard and the rowboat is pulled up. A well armed human man stares at -Angel-, leans down and whispers to Gobbert, who swiftly whispers back what appears to be a reprimand.   Digsby calls for all passengers and crew to come above deck for a briefing on rules and procedure.   Digsby - "Welcome aboard all. Forgive that most of you have heard this before, but It's important to me that we are all clear on how this ship operates. Some of you have paid for passage with coin, and others are paying with your services. Either way, we will be in relatively tight quarters aboard a ship, so treat your shipmates with respect and patience. Any issues you have should be brought to me or to Quartermaster Gobbert. You are welcome above decks, in your designated cabins, the main cabin and of course, the head. Please stay out of the bilge and the cargo. The seas can be dangerous, so you can keep your arms and armor with ya, but keep 'em sheathed unless we have need to defend ourselves. If ya aren't the fighting type, you'll be safest in your cabin should something happen.   I'm happy to help with any questions ya have. We'll be setting sail soon. -Jenn-, Show -Angel- to his cabin. Din, I'll be needin' ya above deck, but show -Angel- the ropes after that eh? Heh Heh."   Din orders Fiddle to tie a harness to lower Awe safely below decks. Fiddle panics and nearly asks another sailor how to tie the requested "Infinity Knot" but Din assures him that he has things well in hand. Mac helps Axe get settled below decks before getting a tour from Amelia of the public parts of the ship.   Shortly after noon that day, the ship was attacked by four Grindylows. After many glancing blows, the heros repelled the attack. Din impaled one on her spear, Mac planted a hatchet in another's skull, Amelia electrocuted another with her Electric Arc, and Cpt. Digsby stabbed one fatally with his rapier.   To be continued.
