Adventure 1, Session 3: Mutiny aboard the Blind Seagull Report

General Summary

With the ship examined and half of those aboard questioned, our heros suspect that something is amiss with Lady Hailin and/or the guards she has hired. The hole in the bilge was clearly cut on purpose and is releasing the fetid water out into the wake of the ship. The group approached Cabin boy Fiddle to try to get some answers. He confirmed that Lady Hailin was hireed on only 6 months earlier, and hired the guards just a few weeks ago. Even considering they were her hires, he noted that she does talk with them very frequently. When the party brought up the hole in the bilge, Fiddle panicked and insisted that they inform Cpt. Digsby immediately.   Cpt Digsby, upon hearing the news, ordered the ship to a halt. He assured Mack (as a passenger) that this would not impact the journey, and ordered Amelia to work with Gobbert to patch the hole and Din to work with fiddle to furl the sails. He was going to speak with Lady Hailin and Gobbert (when he finished getting supplies for Amelia) in the Captain's Chambers. Mack decides to keep watch on deck, along with Gormly and Wallem. Amelia found the Quartermaster in the common room, and he helped her locate supplies in the cargo.   Din, above decks, finished her work and heard the conversation in the Captain's quarters suddenly stop. She and Mack rushed to push through the door, blocked by something heavy. As they got the door to move aside, they saw the unconscious body of the Captain, breathing shallowly and blocking the entrance. Meanwhile, below decks, Quartermaster Gobbert coughs, wheezes, and collapses to the ground, as Birit rushed up above decks. Amelia hurries to check and stabilize his condition, just as Mack and Din check on the Captain, with Axe guarding the door.   Suddenly, Lady Hailin emerged from the Captain's room, and began slinging spells at Din and Mack, shouting "Now!" past them, through the door. At this, Wallem and Birit attack, and Gormly rushes below decks, shouting for the passengers to get to the life boats. Amelia questions her, and Gormly tells her that Lady Hailing is enacting a mutiny, and that she and the other guards are in on it. Gormly insists that they get to the life boats to escape with their lives.   During the battle, Axe and Mack easily overcome Birit, Wallem sets Axe's fur aflame, and covers Din in acid with his alchemical bombs. Din and Amelia deal critical blows to Wallem, and he flees along with an injured lady Hailin. Gormly leads the passengers to a lifeboat, which wallem promptly flees to, missing and splashing into the sea. Lady Hailing walks on water along thanks to a potion, cursing her hirelings, and striking them with lightning, destroying the boat and putting the lives of Gormly, Wallem and the passengers in danger. Amelia heals Axe and Din. Din, still covered in acid, pulls the passengers back on deck and Mack continues to pepper Lady Hailin with arrows. Axe leaps into the sea to put out the flames, and Amelia dives in after the traitor. Lady hailing manages to escape thanks to luck and a timely spell to immobilize Amelia in the water. Our heros return to the ship and tend to the injured, tying up the guards and getting the injured crew to bed. Din locates Fiddle, hiding in a barrel in the cargo.   We leave the party, adrift, with the Lady Hailin escaped, and the Captain and Quartermaster unconscious, and their plan uncertain.
