General Summary

Plot:   Mayor Bunkum Balderdash hires the group to be the bodyguards to Maximilian Schrodenheimer. Arrival is in 1 day, will stay for another 2. Hotel: West Beginnings Hotel. Council of Almonds has a counterproposal: kill the diplomat/let him die.   Party can disarm/disable traps, or let him die.   Hotel is the tallest building around, little chance of snipers. Hotel Locations 1) Lift to lobby 2) Service Elevator. Used by staff 3) Stairs to Loft 4) Pantry. Contains food. Some of which is poisoned, see traps. 5) Kitchen 6) Kitchen tables. 7) Dining table 8) Balcony. Stunning view of Havenport. 9) Recreation room. Contains couches, sofas, coffee tables, etc. 10) Bedroom 11) Loft. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer view of Havenport.   Traps A) Mimic disguised as a telescope. If telescope is used, comes alive and tries to eat whoever activated it. B) Faulty lamp. If turned on, flambes activator for 4d6 Fire damage. DC 16 Investigation to see, DC 18 Tinker's Tools do fix/disable C) Rune of Wind. If stepped on, it activates. People on balcony must make DC 15 STR saving throw or be blown 15ft backwards off the balcony. DC 16 Perception to see, DC 19 Arcana to disable. D) Poisoned food. DC 16 perception to smell/identify. E) Rune of Summon T-Rex. DC 16 to see, DC 19 Arcana to disable. F) Bomb hidden in end table. DC 17 Perception to see, DC 20 Sleight of Hand to disable. G) Poisonous Ants in bedding. DC 19 Perception to hear. H) Shampoo bottle of Poison. DC 21 Investigation to detect irregularities in bottle. I) Hypnotic Painting. Once looked at, DC 16 WIS save to snap out of it. On a fail, are stuck staring at the painting. Can repeat the save on each of your turns. j) spike cushions.   During the evening, housekeeping comes up to check up on the room. "Houskeeping" then tries to assassinate Maximilian. Carries a Wand of Sugestion, casts it upon party to help kill Maximilian. Use 2x Shadow Dancer statblocks.   Ride to Hall 1) Steamroller tries to run down carriage. 2) Mob tries to smash open carriage. 3) Assassin fires from rooftop. Use Winter Eladrin & Druegar Warlord statblocks.   Hall 1) Entrance. Double set of double doors 2) Staircases to basement and balcony 3) Butresses 4) Tables. Diplomats and politicians are sitting all around the tables, mayor is at the head 5) Maximilian's seat 6) Mayor's seat 7) Basement. Contains lots of crates and barrels, and a spike pit. Traps A) Pit of spikes. DC 17 Perception shows that a hole has been cut in the ceiling. DC 13 Investigation reveals that it'll probably collapse with the weight of a person on it. B) Pillar rigged to collapse. DC 15 Investigation reveals multiple loose stones in the pillar. C) Poisoned food. D) Sniper upon balcony. DC 19 Perception to see. Use Drow Shadowblade statblock. E) Invisible Anvil tied to crossbeam. DC 21 Perception to detect,
