Session 22: A Successful Rescue

General Summary

After narrowly escaping the clutches of the Silvestra Numina, and managing to grab a well-needed rest, the party found themselves by the southeastern border of not only the forest but of the kingdom itself. In an attempt to escape from the order, they crossed back over to Aeryon. After having crossed the bridge that marked the border between the two kingdoms, they could see the port town of Elderbridge in the distance.    Not willing to risk their safety, fearing that they still might be wanted for their escape from Folkenfort, they sent a disguised Trinky into the town. Managing to sneak past the guards under the guise of being an old woman and the grandma of Jimmy Bob, who apparently was familiar to the guards. After talking to a young shopkeeper with one ear, and noticing that there were no wanted posters of them in town, Trinky returned to the group and together they walked into town.   Well back in Elderbridge Ravojhan and Trinky met with an elderly goblin wizard and the young goblin fell madly in love. Meanwhile, Quinumo and Aurora sold some weapons to a blind halfling blacksmith. After finishing their errands, they all went to the tavern known as the Trusting Troll, an establishment run by a yelanidian man and his five tame trolls. Inside Ravojhan got a room and spent some time to resummon his familiar Bert, now with their bond stronger than ever. Trinky and Aurora on the other hand got wildly drunk.    As Ravojhan rejoined them with Bert, Trinky up and left, tightly followed by Aurora. The two went to confront her love interest on why he made them wait all night, despite the fact that it was still late afternoon. A bit spooked the wizard still agreed to meet them at the tavern. But as Ravojhan and Quinny went to join them, the warlock sent Bert to look for any order members and managed to spot a caravan with some familiar-looking horses approaching. The group went to meet them and found a horsetrader who had acquired their horses from Folkenfort. He also told them about the man who gave them to him who was currently in the next town over.    The party immediately bought back their horses and left Elderbridge to head to Caelfall. As they entered the town late that night they were directed to the tavern, and upon further questioning of the nearby rat they also found out that this was where they might find Salakor and his gang again. And so they did.    After a happy reunion, the group shared a drink with the travellers. The two groups shared stories of their activities. They told Salakor about the situation with Apieros and asked for advice. The tiefling shared that if the order were to travel north they might do so through the woods to the north. The very next morning the party left Caelfall for the forest of Hoot to the north in search of order activity. Just in time as it turned out. Aurora managed to find tracks from scouts passing along the path. Thus they decided to prepare an ambush for when the main force came.    After careful preparation and hours of waiting a caravan arrived. It consisted of a cart carrying Losandros Silverwind himself with his prisoner Apieros bound, gagged and blindfolded. As an escort, he had brought eight order members and five stag riding elven knights. Managing to catch them by surprise the party quickly got the upper hand, cutting down three enemies before they even had time to react. A hard and bloody battle arose, but with the element of surprise on their side and a bit of luck, they managed to defeat the order who fled the scene.    Thus they managed to rescue the wizard Apieros and after a heartfelt reunion between the siblings, the party rode back towards Elderbridge.
