The proprietor of Barthen's Provisions. Elmar is a lean and balding human male shopkeeper of fifty years with a kindly manner. Although he is friendly, he is no-nonsense man who always tries to cut his customers the most fair deal.
Gundren Rockseeker
Gundren Rockseeker is a determined and ambitious dwarf entrepreneur who, along with his brothers, discovered the location of the lost Wave Echo Cave. He is deeply invested in restoring the mine to its former glory, believing it holds great wealth and magical power. Captured by the Cragmaw Tribe, Gundren is a key figure in the party's journey in Phandalin.
Klarg (Deceased)
Klarg is a brutish and ambitious bugbear who leads the goblins at Cragmaw Hideout, acting under orders from King Grol of the Cragmaw Tribe. He enjoys displays of strength and cruelty, ruling over his underlings through fear and intimidation. Eager to prove himself, Klarg sees his command as a stepping stone to greater power within the tribe.
Narth
Narth is a humble farmer in Phandalin who often spends his evenings at the Stonehill Inn, sharing news and gossip with travelers. He is friendly and well-informed about the town’s happenings, including the struggles against the Redbrand Ruffians. Though not a fighter himself, he respects those who stand up for Phandalin and is willing to share what he knows to help.
Nundro Rockseeker
Nundro Rockseeker is the youngest of the Rockseeker brothers, known for his quick wit and keen sense of curiosity. Along with his siblings, he embarked on the quest to reclaim Wave Echo Cave, hoping to uncover its hidden treasures and lost magic. Nundro is a skilled miner and craftsman, often seen as the more creative and innovative member of the family, eager to explore new possibilities in their search.
Pip Stonehill
Pip Stonehill is the curious and energetic young son of Toblen and Trilena Stonehill. He often runs around the Stonehill Inn, getting into mischief and eagerly listening to travelers' stories. Though he doesn’t fully understand the dangers of the Redbrand Ruffians, he has heard plenty of whispers about their troublemaking and looks up to adventurers as heroes.
Sildar Hallwinter
Sildar Hallwinter is a seasoned human warrior and a loyal agent of the Lord’s Alliance, dedicated to restoring order in Phandalin. He travels with Gundren Rockseeker to support his expedition but is captured by goblins. Sildar seeks to rebuild Phandalin’s governance, expose corruption, and bring stability to the region.
Tharden Rockseeker
Tharden Rockseeker is a dwarf and the older brother of Gundren Rockseeker , known for his stoic nature and dedication to the Rockseeker family’s quest to rediscover Wave Echo Cave. He worked alongside Gundren in search of the mine's lost riches but was separated from him during their journey. Tharden is a seasoned miner and a skilled warrior, often seen as the practical and cautious counterpart to Gundren’s more adventurous spirit.
Toblen Stonehill
Toblen Stonehill is the hardworking and honest owner of the Stonehill Inn in Phandalin, having moved to the town with his wife and son in hopes of building a better life. Though he despises the Redbrand Ruffians for terrorizing the town, he avoids direct confrontation out of fear for his family’s safety. Friendly and hospitable, he welcomes travelers but grows frustrated with the townmaster’s inaction against the growing lawlessness.
Trilena Stonehill
Trilena Stonehill is the kind and caring wife of Toblen Stonehill and helps run the Stonehill Inn in Phandalin. She is protective of their young son, Pip, and worries about the growing danger posed by the Redbrand Ruffians. Despite the town’s troubles, she maintains a warm and welcoming presence, offering comfort to weary travelers.
