Koptouroks and Mummies

Cassidy sneezed and Abrash re-appeared. Abrash and Vor’pat were the only ones who saw the Koptouroks pounce. The creatures flew in the air and started sucking the air from the party, making it difficult to breathe and talk. Every round, two of the 6 mummies emerged from their nooks and joined the fight.   Juan was critically hurt early in the fight. Abrash summoned brought the to help out. Whenever the mummies landed a blow, they placed a curse preventing the party member from healing and slowing them down. By the 3rd round Vor’pat had killed one of the Koptouroks but the mummies were starting to take their toll. Juan was very close to death and was cursed so he couldn’t be healed. Abrash transmogrified him into a Giant Crocodile. The Giant Croc bit into one of the Koptouroks. Isabella finally killed one of the creatures and so did Gazlowe.   The mummies started to surround Abrash and he cast thunder wave blasting them away. However, whenever a mummy was slashed or pierced, a poison dust cloud hurt the person who slashed them. One of the Koptouroks let out a shrieking wail that knocked Cassidy and Vor’pat unconscious. Juan, as a giant croc, was being pummeled by the mummies as he bit into the last Koptourok, killing it.   The party had their breath restored finally. Isabella pulled out her flame blade and yelled “Flame on” and started focusing on the mummies who turned out to be vulnerable to fire damage. Gazlowe finished off the mummy critically hurt by Isabella. The Mummies finished off giant crocodile shape of Juan and left him with just 3 HP. Abrash recast polymorph and this time turned Juan into a Giant Ape. Juan picked up one of the mummies and threw it across the room hitting another mummy. Another mummy cursed Juan causing him to take necrotic damage.   Isabella threw a splash potion of healing onto Cassidy and Gazlowe, reviving Cassidy and then she struck a couple of the mummies killing one. Gazlowe punched another to death. Vor’pat rolled a Nat 20 on his death save and instantly stood up. He saw a mummy standing before him and said, “Remember me!” as he swung his sword, landing a critical blow. However, the poison dust from the mummy’s cut sprayed into Vor’pat’s mouth and Vor’pat fell over unconscious again saying, “This is not over!” Cassidy went ethereal and stood in Gazlowe’s space and with her whip killed 2 of the mummies. She forgot to leave his space, took force damage, and fell unconscious. Abrash said “pew” in a menacing voice and killed the last one with a firebolt.

Treasure and a long rest.

The last mummy burst into flames from the firebolt. Isabella saw Vor’pat and screamed his name as she ran towards him. She kissed his forehead and gave him a healing potion. Gazlowe (with a bit less care and emotion) poured a healing potion down Cassidy’s throat. Abrash looked around and saw mounds of dust in some of the alcoves and explained what he saw to Cassidy. Cassidy started to contemplate what the dust could indicate. Juan walked over and put a handful of dust into his mouth. He bit into something hard and metallic, so he spit it out. It was a gold ring with the initials J.K.L.N. Gazlowe picked it up. Juan picked up another handful and threw it at Gazlowe revealing a gold necklace.   As Juan and Gazlowe played in the dust, Cassidy extracted some dust from the mummies to try to make “Dust of the Mummy” poison and an antidote. After about 10 minutes frolicking in the dust, Gazlowe and Juan found 6 gold rings worth 25gp each, 4 gold necklaces worth 50gp each and a tiara worth 250gp that Isabella wanted. Gazlowe placed it on her head for her. Cassidy warned Gazlowe that Mummy treasure can be cursed. Gazlowe said: “Yeah and all Unicorns are good.” Abrash didn’t want to put the treasure in his bag, neither did Cassidy. Abrash offered Gazlowe 100gp for each piece of treasure Gazlowe wears. So Gazlowe wore all the rings and necklaces, and Isabella wore the crown.   The party was pretty spent from the previous battle, so they spent the day in the room. Cassidy spent all day working on her mummy poison and antidote and Abrash helped. By the end of the day, she created both the poison and antidote and force-fed Juan the antidote. Juan sharpened his weapons and summoned a new Bird. Gazlowe spent the day re-wiring his armor and cleaning it up. Isabella spent the day teaching Vor’pat how to make out. Unfortunately, being neither male nor female Vor’pat found her rituals a bit awkward. After a long day’s work, the party took a long rest.

More mummies

Cassidy listened at the door that led back to the room that had 8 mummies in it. She heard nothing. She opened the door, and all 8 mummies began to get up. Isabella was the first to run into the room and start hacking. Cassidy lit her whips on fire and followed Isabella into the room and finished off the mummy that Isabella hit. Gazlowe shot a lightning bolt hitting 4 of the mummies and setting them on fire. Vor’pat ran in and started slicing. Juan rode bird into the room. Juan stabbed into one of the mummies that Vor’pat hit and killed it. Of course, all the slicing and poking caused the poison from the mummies to affect anyone within 5 feet of them.   The mummies fought back, cursing everyone they hit preventing them from being healed. Abrash, from outside the room, shot a firebolt at a mummy, killing it and then Abrash hid. The Mummies started to focus on Vor’pat. Isabella attacked the mummies hitting her new boyfriend. Of course, the poison from her slash sprayed all over bird and Vor’pat. Cassidy struck the same mummy with her whip and the poison dust from the mummy was enough to knock Vor’pat out. Cassidy then threw a splash potion on Vor’pat, but the curse of the mummy prevented Vor’pat from being healed.   Juan struck the mummy that hit Vor’pat twice and killed it. But its poison splashed onto the unconscious Vor’pat, killing him. One of the mummies was on fire and simply burned to death. Isabella struck another mummy hurting it badly. The poison mummy dust sprayed all over and killed Bird. Cassidy finished it off. Gazlowe cast firebolt at the burning mummy and finished it off. Juan bashed the last mummy with his hammer, killing it. Gazlowe immediately searched the mummies for gold but found none. Cassidy collected dust to make one more poison and antidote for Dust of the Mummy.
