Session 031: Dinner with Strahd Part Deux Report

General Summary

When they got back to town they went to the inn & rested.  Rain woke up early & there was a knock at the door.  A member of the Order of the Ebon Gargoyle was a the door with a letter.

My dearest friends and subjects, I, Strahd von Zarovich, first born son of Queen Ravenovia van Roeyen and King Barov von Zarovich. Slayer of Kavan the Blooddrinker, King Dostron the Hellborn, and the great wyrm Argynvost. Master of Ravenloft Castle, Master of the Mountain Fane. Rightful heir and ruler of the lands of Barovia by right of inheritance, and rightful ruler of Zeidenburg and Teufeldorf by right of conquest; write to you because it has been too long since we have enjoyed the pleasure of your oompany. As such, I bid you join me for dinner tomorrow at sundown at Castle Ravenloft.   Madam Eva and her vistani troop are presently on the outskirts of Zeidenburg and await your reading vardo to join them. Their pleasant company shall get you here in time for our dinner.   I understand that a two-party dinner is a lonesome affair. As such, I have taken the liberty of inviting several of our mutual acquaintances to join us for this momentous occasion. I am delighted to share that they are currently enjoying the hospitality of Castle Ravenloft, and look forward to your imminent arrival.   For the safety of my retainers and our guests, I must insist that you come alone and unarmed, save for my diary and blessed blade you now carry. Should these requests prove overly burdensome to you, I fear that I may be unable to offer my hospitality to you, or to continue offering it to our treasured guests.       Sincerely,     Your Lord and Master,   Strahd von Zarovich.

The party discussed this & decided that they had no choice, this was obviously a threat.  If they didn't attend then they would be the cause of their friend's deaths.
Taking the Vardo they recieved from solving the murder to the outskirts, they met up with Madam Eva who told them that the vistani would drive the vardo for them, & took off to the Castle arriving in the courtyard through the mists.
Nick didn't want to go into the castle, & kept the tome of Strahd with him.  They had dinner & Strahd had in the Dining Hall: Jander, Doctor Rudolph van Richten, Ezmerelda & Arturi.
Strahd announced that he was to wed Ireena in two weeks & asked Adon if he would be willing to officiate the ceremony.  Adon agreed on condition that two of the guests be allowed to leave.
Strahd told them about how Lyssa is seeking to unify Illithids with Vampire & use that to take over Barovia. 
They turned in the Tome of Strahd to Strahd.
