Session 4 Report

General Summary

The investigators begin by meeting back up near the warehouse that Damocles the III and Izirael began scouting. After a brief discussion as to what to do, the investigators decided that they needed to get back in there and figure out what the traps were meant to be hiding. Once back inside, they found a mysterious figure crouched at the locked door leading to the basement.   Confronting the figure, they found it to be Alvaris, the Last Defender that had helped them in their previous mission. He stood and turned to them in confusion, attempting to lie and say that this is his house that he was skulking around in. After a bit of persuasion and a couple threats of jail time, Alvaris agrees to finish picking the door's lock and letting the officers in.   Down the stairs, the group dispels the final aura in the room, a divination aura, and discover a trap door leading back underground. Once again in the sewers, the group scouts ahead using a combination of aura sight and their Meeran, Virgil. As they move foward, the wall behind them closes, trapping the investigators in. After a few more steps, a giant boulder rolls down the hall and crashes into some of them; the others dodging it in various ways. At the end of the hallway, there is a junction that leads left and right. Noticing that the left path is more traveled, the group heads that way to investigate. Not too far down this hall, Virgil begins firing into darkness and the investigators cast a daylight spell to illuminate a giant wall of undead. Casting fireball after fireball, the investigators clear out the undead, and make it past the cloud of poison that is left behind.   At the end of the hall, they discover another laboratory of sorts. In an iron maiden against the wall, they discover their missing noble, Zakum. He is gravely injured and the group helps him out of his prison, taking care to not sever anything vital in his wings. They also find various odds and ends in the lab, but are distracted by footsteps down the hall. They send out a stampede of horses down the hall to delay whoever is coming, steal a couple of notes and ruby jewels, and send out some insect scouts in an attempt to map out the portion that they hadn't investigated. After that, they teleport upwards and out.   Alvaris takes the crew back to his actual home and lets them heal up and discuss their current situation with Zakum there.
