Session 13: Heist! Report

General Summary

At the beginning of the session, just before the Menagerie turned in for their Long Rest, Rinrin received a message via Sending spell from her mentor, who informed her he would be in Mekkisir in two days' time and asked for an update on their voyage. At the same time, Dacha and Nightwind were visited by an Astral Projection of Dacha's grandfather, Hozin, informing them that Silvie, the half-elf the Menagerie had encountered at the Scuttled Hut, had made her way to the village. Dacha informed his grandfather of all he'd learned regarding the Stillness and recommended his grandfather investigate the caves north of the village lake.   The following day the party made their way to the Moonmaiden's Temple to speak with Nightwind's mother Cissa. On the way they encountered the pirates they'd fought two days prior being led into the Violet Aerie under the watchful eye of the notorious Major General Scesso. The Menagerie kept a low profile as they snuck past and headed for the temple where they encountered Cissa greeting visitors. Dacha delivered a message from Nightwind to Cissa and she ushered the Menagerie into the temple where they could speak in private. She informed the group that she and her sister never believed Scesso's story, but her husband and her nephew did. She told Dacha to keep Nightwind hidden as she was sure Scesso had a bounty on her head.   While visiting the Moonmaiden's Temple, Brakmat approached Cas'syesh, a Cleric of Esselyne, inquiring about his condition. The cleric led him to a prayer room where she instructed him how to commune with the gods. Brakmat pulled from his people's traditions and inadvertently found himself in the presence of Khah'rahk, the Crimson King, god of blood, war, and murder. As Khah'rahk reached out to touch the saurian, Ala'syn appeared and pulled Brakmat out of his communion. Upon describing what happened, Cas'syesh recommended Brakmat visit Valtyr's Promenade, as the angel who has been protecting him seems to hold some connection to the old god Valtyr.   Going off information the Menagerie collected from Cissa, they headed for Scesso's estate to stage a break-in. They were scouting the estate when they noticed Brakmat was not with them; the Saurian had headed to the Green Dragon Inn for a meal and to ask the Saurian serving girls if any of them had any information about his clan. None of them had any information for him, so Brakmat left to rejoin the rest of the group. Taking advantage of Brakmat's invisibility magic, Dacha and Rinrin stealthily made their way inside Scesso's estate. After entering through the basement, they made their way up to the top floor, where they made their way through the master bedroom, meeting room, armory, and study, finding evidence of both Scesso's infidelity as well as a potential connection between the Violet Brigadier and the Pale Corsairs. With their invisibility running out, the two decided to head back and rejoin the Menagerie.   As they rejoined the rest of their comrades and explained what they found, Brakmat felt a ping from his Rapier of Warning. He alerted the party that they were being watched, at which point the red-skinned tiefling and dark-haired half-elf who had been tailing the group finally made their presence known.
