Vinum 12, 3033: Year of Darkness

The Omens continued to try to blend in at the Woodthrush Inn while Helen covered for the mysterious stranger upstairs. The charade didn't last too long, however. Lorelai, invisible, snuck around the outside, checking in each room to see what was going on inside, discovering a hidden fifth room , "The Corner Room," where the stranger was packing this into a bag, tearing bounties and maps off the wall. She spotted a rendition of the Flamebringers and another of the Omens, as well as the Morningstar.

In Helen's room, she found a series of signet rings, one with the shattered sun symbol, the other with a symbol of sixteen interlocking rings; one of nine around the outside, and another of seven on the inside. She took both of them.

Meanwhile, in the main lobby, the others were being poisoned; Helen attempted to put them to sleep, successfully so in Amara's case. Amara went out to vomit, caught up with Lorelai. Andy and Augustana were doing their best to talk Helen in to drinking her own poison, which Augustana succeeded in by tipping her drink up as Helen faked a sip. When Helen turned to fix herself the antidote, Lorelai and Amara burst in, with Lorelai vaulting the bar and killing Helen with one foul slash of the Aspen Tongue. Everyone else was aghast.

Rooting through Helen's room, they found her journal and a ledger, and after exploring a little deeper, Andy found a second ledger, one dealing in comings and goings rather than profit margins. Her journal had a line that said "No contact today," in abyssal, which Andy was able to translate. Unfortunately, the ledger appeared to be written in some kind of code. Upstairs, a tone rang out, pure, across the Call, and Augustana was the only one who could hear it.

Heading up, they found the door to the secret room ajar, as if someone had passed through it without shutting it. After checking for traps, the group entered, Amara looking at what remained of a map on the far wall. It was a tatter near where they are, the outpost they're in marked "OD ND." Another was marked "PF." Lorelai found something on the table in the center, a small bead of orangey light. Before Pitbull could yell "Fireball!" a delayed blast fireball exploded, sending fire raining around the fields, destroying half the Woodthrush, much to Lorelai's chagrin. In the distance, the figure stood up from the tall grass, casting another fireball in their direction.

After a brief altercation, they defeated the wizard, and took his staff. A staff of power.
