Session IV, Part 2: Still Life Part 2 Report
General Summary
"Gods, I don't know what to do. I went out for one morning, for one simple meeting, and I return to find these adventurers, my friends, crestfallen, broken, and traumatized. Rosemary even left us to return home, taking Yvain with her. From what the boys have told me, I don't blame her. They haven't spoken much, but from what they have said, they went out to explore the city for a day while I was gone, and eventually ended up at the Grand Cathedral. Apparently, a woman walked in, distraught. She explained that her son was running about with some gang and wanted the heroes to track the gang down and bring her son back. My friends obliged, and went into Briston to look. As explained to me, they were attacked by a group of thugs, defeating and obtaining information from them. They learned that the gang was really a terror organization, and they learned where to find them. They tracked them to an abandoned building, and then all Hell broke loose. Rosemary and Aiden climbed into the building undetected, and Rosemary overheard the group's leader speaking, detailing a plot to overthrow the High King by kidnapping the Archbishop and me. Faustus was sent in to gather more information, but while he was inside, the party was spotted. A group of armed men went out to confront them and bring them in for interrogation, but Aiden chose to fight, sustaining permanent injuries from the confrontation. The party was brought in forcibly and threatened. Rosemary was threatened especially heinously, but I don't know any other details. I don't want to know. Eaddard and Faustus were able to use their magic to create distractions, steal some documents, and help the others escape, with the boy they had originally been sent to find. Faustus and Eaddard brought the building down, killing almost everyone inside. Faustus killed the only survivor in combat. This seems to be where the problem lies: most of the people inside were only adolescents. I can understand the party's trauma. A guard patrol came by, recognized the party, and brought them to the Archbishop. Aiden learned that he had sustained permanent paralysis and would never walk again. Rosemary and Aiden returned to the library immediately, where I used an exhausting level of magic to give Aiden a second chance to walk, and a chance to redeem himself to himself. The party regrouped and spoke to the King, who decided to hide me away in Norfell for the time being, which I am not happy about. In order to make up for the loss of Rosemary, the King sent Gisela, or as I call her, Pixie, to accompany us. She used to come see me for magic lessons when she was a young girl, but she hasn't come to see me at all in recent years. I admit, it is nice to spend time with her again. We are on our way to Norfell, the birthplace of the First Lorekeeper. I wish it were under better circumstances. I wonder what he would have done." -High Lorekeeper Feadorn "I very much understand what Feadorn's adventurers are feeling right now. The events they described to me are tragic and sickening, and it will be a hard road for them moving on from this. Unfortunately, for me, there is little time to empathize. The heroes uncovered a plot that could end in Sutherland's destruction. I hope they have prevented it, but something does not sit well with me. It is in times like this that I'd give anything for my father to be here. At least I have Alastrina. She's always stood by me when I've needed her."
"I haven't seen Godric this upset in a long time, but from what has happened, I understand why he is. I'm worried, as well. Still, it is strange to see my love so upset. I worry for Gisela, as well. The poor girl has never been far outside of Orenfeld in her life. I hope she fares well on the road to Norfell and can return home safely." -High Queen Alastrina
