Session 2: Save Our Ship

General Summary

PCs stayed at The Beached Whale after Session 1

  • Zoran lied about her name & paid for the rooms with strange (not exactly legal) gold, which Terrowin Farlight accepted
Preparing to travel:
  • Neela Emere had been traveling from Halkilde, storm blew in west to east, she’s hoping the ship will be somewhere along the coast west of Ahrensport to Concour
  • Neela suggests that they travel along the coast as soon and as fast as possible to avoid delays, more delay = more chance that someone else will find the ship
Exploration: Travel & Exploration Mechanics    Trip Duration:
  • If they travel at slow pace (18 mi/day, 5 day trip) → advantage on all rolls during trip
  • Normal pace (24 mi/day, 4 day trip) → normal rolling
  • Fast pace (30 mi/day, 3 day trip) → can choose to take 1 hit die of damage, 1 level of exhaustion, or disadvantage on all rolls during exploration
At the ship:
  • Hobgoblin in captain’s quarters + 1 goblin for every day traveling
  • 1 day = 1 HG
  • 2 days = 1 HG + 1 G scout
  • 3 days = 1 HG + 1 G scout + 1 G on board
  • 4 days = 1 HG + 2 G scout + 1 G on board
  • 5 days = 1 HG + 2 G scout + 2 G on board
  • Scouts are in woods near ship
  • Neela’s crew kept in captain’s quarters (keeping the prisoners because the goblins can’t repair or sail the ship on their own, but as it is, they don’t have the materials to repair it)
In-Session Notes:
  • Abe spoke to a bear who let them know where the ship is
  • PCs had some campfire time and shared some of their backstory with each other
  • Successfully defeated goblins, kept HG (named Marvin) alive, tied up, with 11 HP
  • Successfully got Neela’s ship ungrounded → as compensation for helping her keep face with her family and not ruin her family’s reputation, she’ll now take the PCs wherever they want (within reason, i.e. along trade route, and PCs may have to go out of their way a bit/wait for her to do business)
