Session 3: Below Drakar Report

General Summary

The party left the next day to delve deep into the caverns beneath the fifth level of the Spire. The network of tunnels and chambers beneath and throughout the city were ancient and endlessly winding. They went down a long series of corridors and rooms, being led by Vron, the head bodyguard of Inquisitor Davworth. He was the leader of the small Inquisition party who had captured the Etayen scout that was under interrogation, and had some sense of direction in the dark labyrinth. After almost half an hour of walking nearly blind, they reached the farthest extent of the soldiers' advance. From there, they continued on with nothing but luck to guide them to the right place.

They didn't immediately find elves, but they found something. Two massive figures, almost nine feet tall in stature. They took before a large gate, obscured by the darkness. The party advanced forward, but were stopped by the figures. They spoke in ancient elven, a dialect long lost to the ages, but recorded in some books. Thad and Meliyeus used one of the few surviving volumes on the subject to communicate with the monsters. They learned that the beings were titans, created by an ancient elven king named Zathun during the Ascension era. They learned that the Lord of Pain that they had been trying to learn about was named Shrik. They learned that the object of evil that was below the city was and orb that was just beyond the gates. Most importantly, they learned that a descendant of the creator of the titans was also beyond those gates. It was most likely that they were there to collect what the 40,000 elves were besieging the city to retrieve.

The party wished to meet the Etayen that was inside, so the titans went to go summon him. Who emerged wasn't an elven king, but rather an elven swordsman named Lon, who was party of the king's bodyguard. He was immensely arrogant and challenged the party to try and face him as well as the two titans. Obviously that'd be suicide, so that wasn't an option. What the party chose to do was set a one on one challenge between him and Barbozar. If the party won they'd be allowed through. Being arrogant as he was, John sweetened the deal. All Barbozar had to do was land a single hit. They took their marks, and with a single great swing Barbozar landed a fair cut right across the chest of the Etayen. With a smile the Etayen congratulated the party, and let them go through, but not before he had left.

The party passed through the great gates and saw that the object was indeed gone. No reason to stay there, so the party went on the pursuit of the elves. Up a long flight of stairs and through many rooms they went until they reached the surface. The exit was a trapdoor amongst ruins outside the city. Waiting for them was Lon, who informed them that they were too late to meet the king, but that they could meet in the future. If the party was interested, they would have travel to the Fringe to meet High King Thin'tak in person. Exhausted and dejected, the party slowly made their way back to the Inquisition headquarters atop Corgastor's Spire. They informed Inquisitor Davworth of what had happened and what would happen next, then retired to their chambers for a well deserved rest.
